Do any of you keep personal journals?
    #2131571 - 11/24/03 02:31 AM (13 years, 12 days ago)

Hi all, about 10 minutes ago, it's now 1:30am, I was eating some food and walked over to the coffee table to find an elegant looking pen catalogue. I was going through it and it brought me the idea of keeping a journal to express my personal thoughts, thoughts that would keep me in touch with myself and my surroundings.

I know this journal needs not to be something so fancy and can just be a notebook, but where can I find a good, tranquil looking notepad that can serve as a journal for years to come?

Evidence, and nothing but. All of the people who I've seen keep journals or diaries end up gettin screwed by someone who came across it and read it.

must be thin
(mine has like 500 pages)
I went for the hardback, bound journal with blank pages because those ring things the paper always gets torn out after a while.

Ya, I have like 3 or 4 spiral notebooks. I need to get a hard-cover one to put 'em all in. Besides, I usually forget all about the songs from previous notebooks, with a few exceptions. On the other hand, maybe that's a good thing, since the ones I remember are usually the best ones.

I'm waaaay too paranoid for journals, in general, but every one of my trips (since #14) has been logged somewhere (in a coded format).

I keep all my thoughts/ideas/lyrics whatever in a folder on my computer.
Just use a word processor and save a few bucks.

Opened my old live-in girlfriend's diary when I was 24 and she was 19.

"Dear Diary:

I can't believe I fucked Rick in the back of his truck today..."

Rick was her mother's boyfriend. Some kind of twisted Oedipal thang. A mild shocker to say the least.

Your question is redundant.

Seriously, a journal is an excellent way to measure progess in any endeavor, to log ideas and for self-reflection.
