Baby food bottle agar, They are the tiniest jars you can find as cheap as .40 cents each. Petris store well, lc`s store well, Umm Master grains jars store well.. The ideal storage temperature for most strains of spawn is 32-34. At this temperature the spawn can be kept for 2 to 4 months.

I don't have money. That's why I'm looking for an alternative. Stuff that I already have that others may have used. I personally don't like ordering anything online.

You can keep plates in the fridge for awhile.
I've fruited cultures from clone plates that spent 6+ months in there.
It helps to store them inside a little insulated lunch box.
Really the best option is to make proper slants though.

I believe that grain masters store very well. Biggest issue is refrigerator space.

Slant tubes are a little pricey. I just blew a good chunk of money on slants myself haha
How long are you going to be without money? Im sure you could save up 20 bux for a ten pack of proper tubes in a few months time Just store plates for now, pull it out and make a transfer if you need

How long without money? lol.. Until I find a job. Hasn't been going well. tax return maybe. I guess i'll keep plates after i test each one... then buy real shit.
I suppose a grain master could work.. then transfer single grains to plates or something like that... then to slants when I have cash.
I'd still like to figure out a grocery store "tek" for long term storage. You can get everything there cept for slants... agar, tongue depressors etc. We'll see what happens.
Thanks guys.

There are small vials for essential oils, like coke vials. You can get them cheap sometimes, but they are short. Might be able to find a taller one
How many cultures do you need to slant? Any cheap test tube with a cap should work. Maybe vacutainers for drawing blood... they have a rubber stopper in the top that fits air tight. BD makes a good one
