Oh man I live the farthest possible place from any ocean so fresh seafood is out of the question. I fucking love lobster but I never get to eat it. I ate it for lunch and dinner several days on that trip, it was so fucking good.
The food in nicaragua was bomb!
All the animals there are free range and humanely raised for the most part, no factory farms, so the meat was more ethical and more delicious and healthy (less stress hormones in the animal means a much tastier meat)
Everything was good there even the local fare of rice, beans, salty cheese and fried plantains!
And the people were so nice in almost every case.
If weed was legal there I might consider living there. Only real problem with the country is you can get thrown in a shit covered cell indefinitely for having a roach of weed.

Yeah this trip was incredibly therapeutic for me. I felt so relaxed, content and at peace there, my mood improved greatly, my health and fitness also benefited from all the fresh air, good food and outdoor exercise and sunshine.
I felt refreshed and renewed and coming home I enjoy and appreciate my home country and my house and home life more then ever, and feel ready to "start fresh" in life.
I also feel more like I am living my life to the fullest if I can have a good number of international trips under my belt. I would like to see a good part of the world before I leave it.
I dont understand people who choose never to travel. I have a lifelong best friend the same age as me (27) and he has never left his home country and has no real plans to , even though he easily could.
Instead he prefers to sniff cocaine with all his money
Its sad really. Especially if you live in a relatively small and freezing cold and ugly city like mine, how terrible to live your entire existence in one crappy city when the whole amazing world is open to you.
True its expensive, time consuming and often difficult and dangerous, but we have such a unique opportunity in this day and age to travel with jet planes that no one in history had before us, such a shame not to use it, and who knows how long it will last!

Do you have any tips on getting cheaper airfare? Your post got me curious and it looks very expensive though I didn't look up Nicaragua. I couldn't imagine ever being able to afford to vacation.
The pictures you shared of the land are beautiful though! I'm glad you and your wife had a wonderful time

Thank you! My wife may have some tips on getting cheaper airfare, if she does I will let you know.
You can often get all inclusive vacations including air fare for very cheap if you get at the right time, our trip was more expensive because we didnt do an all inclusive and had to do lots of travel in nicaragua including a domestic flight from the mainland to the corn islands, but you can often get a great week or two all inclusive somewhere like mexico, cuba, jamaica or dominican for surprisingly cheap!
I think our next trip will be an all inclusive resort, as although this trip was amazing, it was also dangerous and strenuous and tiring. It will be lovely to just chill at an all inclusive resort in the next country we visit and use it as a base for doing day trips and excursions, as we did in Dominican Republic and Mexico for example.
You can save up and should save up for at least one trip in your life, its worth it even if takes years to save enough.

Looks like an experience of a lifetime. Thanks for sharing it with us! $5,500 is super cheap for something like that.
