casing is giving me troubles
    #2131319 - 11/23/03 11:28 PM (13 years, 14 days ago)

alright, i made a casing using 50/50+ tek, peat moss and verm. the strain is ecuador and i cased using colonized mycobags, now here is the problem, i checked it when it was three days into the incubation process, there was no signs of mycelium showing thru at all, the top layer is kinda thick, im thinking this may have something to do with it? any advice experience or info would be appreciated.thanks-Gonzo

How thick is your top layer. Rule of thumb, casing layers should be 1/4 size of mycelium layer.

It could be just too thick and it's taking time for it to get through, or you might wanna scratch some of the top layer to see if there is any growth.

What are your incubating temps like? yeah, it sounds like the casing layer could be a little too thick.

yea i think the top layer is too thick, i have a thermostat controlled ocilating ceramic heater and its set at 85, i made the layers way more thick than 1/4 the mycelium layer, thats probably the problem, i will swipe some substrate aside and see if there is mycelium, thanks for all the help, i appreciate it
