Hey Lepkaun, how can I be confident that these are Panaeolus papilionaceus or a variant of Panaeolus before ingesting them? Are there any poisonous Panaeolus look-alikes that I should be aware of? Thanks!

Mottled gills, black spore print, and fringy veil material hanging below the edge of the cap would confirm P. papilionaceus. Why would you eat them, though? They aren't an active species or one that is typically eaten.

Ok cool, ty. I guess simply because they are edible, I'd like to try one. Also maybe just the ego boost of finding an edible mushroom and trying it. And knowing what it takes to be near 100% confidence with Panaeolus.

Ok, go ahead and cook them up. #2 might be Deconica coprophila. Agrocybe on dung is rare, but someone did bring a bunch of horse dung Agrocybe into the SOMA meeting a couple days ago.
