Dull white vs Bright white mycelium
    #21311927 - 02/22/15 07:47 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

Hi everyone, this is my first grow. I've noticed that the first batch I put into the FC is getting a dull white, kind of grey, mycelium color.
When I first took them out of the water after the 24hr dunk they were very blue and bruised, it looks like the mycelium has recovered (1 week later). But when I put the second batch into the FC today I noticed the subtle difference between them.
The new batch is a bright white whereas the ones that have been in there for a week are dull (no pinning yet 8 days later).
Is this color normal? It doesn't look like any kind of contamination.
Thanks!

Could be normal, in fact it probably is. Take and upload  some clear pictures and we could tell you with more certainty. I've had to wait two weeks for pinning before, but once it pinned it exploded. Did you wait till 100% colonization before putting in FC? If you did pins should be sometime soon, if you didn't wait for 100% colonization, it could take longer. Patience is key my good friend, don't stress about it, fore a watched pot never boils.

First grow but you have a flowhood and are making up your own teks? Great spirit man but dont you think you should be following some sort of guidelines?
we know you have a camera post some pics of your problem above.
light wispy mycelium could certainly be a problem.

I don't have a flowhood, I'm just following the pfTek method. I didn't put any pictures because I didn't think the difference was coming up on the camera. I tried to take a more clear image now.

First Image (Left is the dull mycelium, right is the brighter one):

Second Image (1 week old dull mycelium):

Thanks in advance!

Thanks...hopefully all goes well. I think I may be over analyzing every detail since it's the first time.
