Can i use soggy vermiculite?
    #21311591 - 02/22/15 01:46 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

So i mixed the BRF and the verm together then added water and it's gone all soggy and sticky and i'm doubtful if it will work at all.

Should i just start again?

I'd say start over. The mycelium have a harder time growing in a wetter environment. Contams might like it more, too. I would just say start over because people have been doing the PF tek a long time and it's pretty much optimized for best conditions. Make sure you mix the water in before the BRF next time. It's waayy easier to gauge the right moisture content by tipping the bowl and looking at how much water pools up on one side. You can't do that if you already added the BRF.

okay. i'll start over then. I've already accepted the fact that there is almost no chance in hell that this is going to work because i don't think i was clean enough making the syringe but i'm going to try anyways and hopefully learn along the way.

Then start using agar, put some of that syringe on agar and see how clean it is.
Then with the agar make a slurry and inject some of that into the BRF cakes instead.
