PF Tek update - Colonization Time Lapse
    #21306713 - 02/21/15 01:58 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

My jars seem to be doing well.

Edit: Just finished this 2hr time lapse.
Should have focused the camera a little more to the right!

Here are some shots of mycelium racing to colonize the small amount of visible substrate left:

Mycelium waterfall!

This experimental jar, however. Is looking like a bust.

I tried inoculating this single jar with about 1cc of spore solution from a 3 - 4 year old Tasmanian syringe.
I'm certain this is some sort of contaminant.
Should I just empty it outside, boil the jar, and save it for another round?
I shouldn't have to worry too much about spreading contaminant spores if I wash it outside right?
Just looking for a second opinion.

One more note:

The second jar to the right turned out a lot more dense than every other jar.
I noticed it was heavier after being sterilized.
I'm thinking some water got in there during the PC cycle, or perhaps I packed it too tight.

It seems to be colonizing fine, will I have trouble fruiting this cake due to the density?
I have a feeling it will take a lot longer to colonize and consolidate than the other jars.

Let me know what you guys think!

Are you taking pictures through a magnifying glass or a microscope?

Really good work.

Great shots!  And no, your denser cake will do just fine as long as it colonizes.

It's just a jewelers loupe.
The .gif is with a DSLR through the loupe and the pictures are from my phone. Haha

I can't wait to time lapse my first pins and fruits!
