you are likely right, but it will not hurt to have a good defence in the event that he is charged.

imobiletoe: it will be of the upmost import that you remember exactly waht you did and didn't say, to the best of your memory if you do have to go to court. i'm sure you'll be alright, but just in case, cover your ass, and do not contradict yourself in court.

so do you think the rangers will wittness? and otherwise they would be going off of police report I presume? cause if so I can simply get a copy of the police report right? that way I know exactly what they have on me.

On a related topic- I live in Oregon and I hunt for edibles, but I haven't been able to determine if hunting edible in OR state parks is legal or not. The OR parks web site says that removing any animal, vegetable or mineral is forbiden, which I take to mean that the average ranger wouldn't know the difference, but harvesting mushrooms isn't speficially forbiden, from what I've seen. I did notice on the Cascade Myco Soc site that a free permit is required to hunt mushrooms in federal forests. Does anyone have any better info on this? Thanks!

yes, it is. in a park designated as a wildlife sanctuary, it is illeagal to harvest any form of life intentionaly, and you can even be fined for accidentaly causing damage to a plant, animal or habitat.

Which is what I find to be bullshit also. Am I not a natural part of the habitat? We used to be! Herds of elk come through areas fucking everything up but I come through and maybe step on a couple ferns and I get fined? As long as I'm not harvesting anything with any man made tool that can actually do any dammage, such as a chainsaw, then I think that is a part of my natural existence. We are the top of the food chain. But this world truely has taken it too far with mass destruction of our planet. We have seriously fucked things up and we will pay for it.

Having gone through a serious bust many years ago, do whatever you have to to find the $$$ and hire a good lawyer. No matter how much the court appointed one would like to help you, they just don't have time.

The laws are getting more and more obnoxious in this country and unless everyone gets busy working against it, they will run over everyone. I know most people don't want to be bothered with any kind of political involvement, but it is the only way things will change.

I cannot say strongly enough GET A GOOD LAWYER even if you have to sell everything you own, promise your parents to do whatever they want to loan you the money, whatever. If you do not, they will just roll right over you and you could even spend time in jail, it will be on your record forever, it is a crime of "moral turpitude" which means you cannot leave the country, hold most professional licenses, get all sorts of jobs. Plus your car insurance may go up or you may become uninsurable. GET A LAWYER!!

Ask everyone you know and get one who specializes in drug arrests.

good news... its been over 2 weeks now since the incedent and still nothing in the mail. I might just be cool!!! Fuck yes! I figure the only way to be sure is to wait a month but I would figure two weeks and still nothing... not very likely anything is coming. They musta been bull shitting and takin them shrooms for themselves. Thats what I'd be doin! he he he.
