DIY tent poles?

My boss owns many properties, I mean MANY. He rents to an eclectic cross section of folks, from google executives to face tatooed retired freight train riders (like myself) most of his urban properties are pretty dumpy, scrap metal cluttering the corners of the yards, old junky cars, and heaps uppon heaps of hardware, houseware, appliances and furniture . . . So when I came across a tent all bundled up last week he told me to put it in my car and have it. now opening it it looks like it was rolled up in the middle of a coastal georgian monsoon, but thats not the most depressing thing, I can't find the tent poles; I only just today unrolled the tent, they are not in the fly and the tattered bag holds none, I must have immagined it had a set when I dumped the whole kit'n'kaboodle out on my shop floor friday.
A replacement kit that I found with a quick search costs $13xx at walmart, if I assume as many as 20 tent poles would be needed thats $260 Even just 10; 130. Best as I can think maybe bamboo? junk store? craigs list? Oh buy the way the initial measurement of the floor plan was 10.5 feet, though I suppose it could be 11x10 or 10x10, it seemed square and I figured 10.5 was good enough for me, oh yea and its a hilary, seems to be a dome tent, though I suppose it could be a 'cabin' style.

Isn't this DIY? not BIY. I'm a cheapass and the manufacturer would probably charge far more than the tent would cost originally if the company even makes anything similar anymore. where would one go about getting long 1/2 - 9/16 - 3/4 bamboo in long ass lengths? garden store like whites nursery? Suppose I could wait till I see some growing somewhere and hop out the car with a machete might scare the shit outta people and the property owners might have a problem with that.

Tent poles are pretty specific to the exact cut/dimensions of the tent. It depends entirely on the type of tent. You could try making your own but unless you get everything perfect it's likely to end up pretty ghetto. But with a little work and research I'm sure it can be done. I'd probably get fiberglass poles.

I think I'll start with 4 3/4 inch 10' long white PVC poles and a 4way, then me and the wifey will erect from opposing corners, mark max to corner key, then do the same with the other corners and then cut and attempt to errect. The corner hooks indicate something about 3/4 diameter (outside) I've done similar things before, after two years of wind, rain, sun and neglect my aforementioned structure still stands erect and flexible yet rigid enough to hold its original shape within tolerances for it to provide its service.
Then if that works I'll get some connectors and cut each length in half and should have 8 3+/- foot tent poles for this thing. Just as a second option over my primary tent for camping. maybe I'll keep it in the car for a bug out shelter or whatever.

I have an idea, maybe not a good one but here goes.
Maybe get some 3/8 to 1/2 inch rigid tubing like sticks (not roles) of Pex pipe. Ten spray/ fill the inside of the PEX with "Geat Stuff" foam ( canned foam for insulating/ filling gaps and holes n such). The foam will harden and might make a nice stable tent pole.

PVC (or PEX) with great stuff filling sounds unnecessary, these materials are rigid enough as they are.

Pex isn't rigid. But cpvc would probably work well.

Yea pex isn't rigid until you try and rout it through a 90° enclosed corner. Worry not my fine posters, I will use white PVC.
