blue cakes and other issues - 2nd flush (w/pics)

WTF is going on here? Everything has been fairly smooth sailing up until this point. PE cakes have been in FC for 4 weeks. 6 of the 9 cakes have/are producing. I took 3 cakes out of FC for 24 hours, then I dunked those 3 cakes for 4 hours yesterday (one of the cakes produced a nice cluster, and the other 2 hadn't produced anything yet). I took them out after the dunk and they are solid blue. wuuuuuuut... is going on here?
red arrows = dunked cakes red circle = some other weirdness (blue cap??)

Below is more on the "other weirdness" department:
These are not the dunked cakes I was talking about (above), but I'm having some blueing issues with a few shrooms. They get treated just like all the rest, and the rest have been middling - decent, normal color.

The blue is just bruising. Sometimes it happens when fruit bodies are forming. Up your misting a bit or pay more attention to that area.
Dunk for 24 hours for a second flush, not four.
They all need more misting. PE is thirsty, they like to have a lot of water on hand.
Also allowing more FAE would help. I can see myc starting to crawl up the base and the blueing and cracked caps is low humidity.

bruising on top, bottom, and every square inch all around on sides?? mk. that's veird.
Dunk for 24 hrs huh? I thought I always read 4-6. Should I re-dunk the cakes?
Also, 2 of the 3 cakes I re-dunked had not produced anything for 4 weeks. They didn't seem dry but I thought that might trigger them to start pinning or do something. Should I leave those 2 alone, or dunk again w/ the cake that needs to be dunked?

If you just recently dunked them it means you handled them so bluing is normal for those cakes. Also don't re-roll after your first flush. The myc is weak and doesn't handle a re-roll well, which is probably part of your bruising now.
Don't re-dunk the other cakes that haven't produced, they're probably just being stubborn and hopefully this dunk will wake them up. The ones that already produced should be dunked for 24 hours to recover the water they lost when fruiting. Not sure where you read 4-6. The consensus is 12-24. I'm saying 24 because PE is thirsty and why wouldn't you dunk for 24? BRF is very dense and not very porous so it takes a long time to soak in water.

Thank you, sir. I'll re-dunk the one cake for 24 hrs. btw, I did not re-roll any of those.
How can I increase my FAE? Drill more holes?? I already have 1/4" holes every 2" on all 6 sides of my FC.

My mistake ,
Try misting more first and see if the bluing goes down. I just looked through your old thread and your SGFC was good. I'd try raising it more if it's still on those white blocks if misting doesn't help. Try to focus a lot of water on the blue parts.
Sometimes that's all it takes and then once they recover they'll be fine. When was the last time you hydrated your perlite?

I mist the perlite every time I mist the cakes. Should I ever have to take all cakes out and give the perlite a good soak/rinse, then reassemble FC?

Every 2-3 weeks.
Take the cakes out and then run your shower head. Spray the perlite. Wait till it stops dripping and rake your fingers through it to plump it up. Then run your hands along all of the holes to make sure no perlite is blocking any.
Good to go,

Will do. My PC was delivered today. I'll inoc some grains next week.
Fuck these cakes. lol. I guess I'm glad I started with them, for experience purposes, but damn they take a lot of babysitting & my yield has been less than expected.

I'll teach you a few tricks about monos,
To do 'em just right they do require a TINY bit of babysitting but not as much as cakes and the reward is well worth it.

I may do the same and try out monos. Especially being that I'm using grains now. Plus cakes are too easy and the yield is smaller.
