making spore print concern

so I made a spore print with one of my last mushrooms and I accidentally left the cap sitting too long. It produced a great sport print but the cap seems to have begun rotting. there was a smell when I opened the top and I'm concerned this may have contaminated the spore print. Usually I would just make another one but since this is my last print and I really need it,... was wondering if anyone has experience with it. My method for collecting spore prints is taking a cap, putting it on a piece of glass and covering the cap with a pint jar. I usually leave it for a day but in this case I didn't get to it for about 3 days. What do you guys think? Does the rotting cap automatically contaminate my print?

obviously I will have to just try and see what happens but I really hate to waste a bunch of time for contamination in the end. Will cost me a couple weeks and several hours prepping WBS. Any experience with this would be greatly appreciated

Oh I should mention the cap had began turning to jelly,( not entirely) when I caught it.

Put it on agar.
You'll get some sort of germination then transfer away. If you're not into agar then make a syringe and shoot up a grain jar and hope for the best. But really, if you're taking prints you should be into agar:

Make a bunch of syringes and shoot up 10+ small grain jars. You're bound to get 1 or more that takes. Then G2G away!

They'll all take GreenMonster,
Some will take with things he doesn't want to grow.
To work a spore print properly you need to get into agar CDC. Sorry.

That's fine. That's why you do 10. Toss out the bad and G2G the good.

Dude, what TaGyo said. Agar is actually quite simple. Use Pasty's easy agar tek and read this too: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21176491
If your print is contaminated, you can grow it out on agar and isolate a clean sector. I'm addicted to working with agar now. It's so fun and testing isolated is way more exciting than squirting MS syringe solution into spawn.

There will be no good GreenMonster.
No one can call that clean spawn and you should never G2G spawn you don't think is clean.

It's fucked. Throw the whole thing away unless you have antibiotic agar. I once left some Galerinas for a buddy of mine to print for me and he forgot about them and left them until they started to rot. Never could get growth I could isolate on regular agar.
