First Grow - Log of Treasure Coast, Blue Oyster

This will serve as a grow log of my first attempt at cultivation. I began by preparing 12 pf jars with the only modificication being that I added some diluted coffee and spent coffee grounds added in. I was careful with sanitization (use of everclear alcohol to clean workspace, gloves, steam sanitized jars for 2hr, etc.) I did make a very noob mistake that I thought was going to ruin the batch... I inoculated when the jars were still warm. I should have paid closer attention to how important it was that they were fully cooled. I inoculated 6 with Blue Oyster LC and 6 with Treasure Coast. Three days have now past and I wasn't expecting any growth and instead expected that I fried my spores like an idiot. They must be pretty tough though, because today I saw some signs of growth. This was my first time checking them, and the jars that were inoculated with the Blue Oyster LC obviously had more pronounced growth. 3 of the LC jars have quarter sized growth around the inoculation points. The growth looks like very fine white hairs stretching out. It is very white and doesn't look gray, so I am hoping it isn't cobwebs. The rest of the jars are showing similar growth, but the Treasure Coast jars are very subtle. It looks like very early signs of germination. I will get pics soon. Do you guys think I am getting mycellium growth?

Is the addition of diluted coffee bad? I made sure to keep ratio of wet to dry the same and didn't over saturate.

Hmm. Never heard of anyone doing that with pf tek jars. Usually see coffee with bulk. Will stay tuned.

People usually PC pftek jars. You can use a pot with a lid though if you don't have one. As long as you're not using grains.

People don't usually PC pftek jars. Most people doing pftek are noobs who haven't yet gone out and bought a PC. That's why the pftek is nice, you don't need a PC...unless you're using coffee lol.

not true ive done many wbs pf tek style jars... as long as you grind the grains down and use them as a sub for brf then you can still steam. same goes with coffee... the only reason we pc grains is because the outer shell acts as insulation and the inside doesnt get as hot.

Yea I sterilized the jars by having them steam in a large pot with a lid for 2 hours.

OP...

That's the thing u can use coffee grounds as a sub for brf but brf has more nutes. That doesn't mean u can't steam them... I've experimented with many substitutes for the brf verm pf tek I've done only grinded down wbs mixed with cpir and it had a 95% success rate 19/20 jars. Just because its not as nutricous doesn't mean it will fail. If sub coffee for water in pf tek u actually can still succeed.

Ah ok thanks for explaining guys. Yea this first grow has been a learning experience. If this first batch fails, I think I have learned enought to be successful on the next try. I'll get those pics up tomorrow.

Took a long time to take off, but finally seeing some noticeable growth in the Treasure Coast Jars. The blue oyster seem to be a failure likely due to me frying them like an idiot. The jars that were inoculated with spores were surprisingly resilient. Live and learn I suppose... What do you guys think... Healthy growth? Still waiting for signs of growth in 2 of the TC jars. Rest are similar to below.

It it is also worth noting that I inoculated closer to the center of the cakes, so that may be a contributing factor as well. This looks like myc to me, but I am no expert so hoping someone can confirm.
