I know I will probably get shit for this but is anyone doing gyms outside soon or this summer? I got them to spawn last year but it seems mice or squirrels or something like the myc. This year going to start lots inside and use chicken wire out side like I had to do with my cubes last season. Turkeys it was, scratched up a whole bed of pins. 2 X's before I could figure out what to do. Prepared now....:rock on

What do you use for spawn? Do you have bug problems? I'm planning to grow at least some alleni's this year, I'd love to add some laughing gyms if I can get some spores.

I used lc right onto grain. It colonized perfect but when I put them out the vermin ate all the myc. I saw it dug up. Not first time it has happened. Bugs yes but I deal with them. And I would love to trade if I get fruit. Will keep you posted.

Do you think they were going after the mycilium or the grain? I had a huge pest problem last year and I guess I'm not sure, but I attributed it to the grain, that seems like the best food choice to me if I were a bug. So I'm going to use straw and/or hay this year I believe, got a few bags colonized already. Might want to consider it. I'm currently doing a test indoors to see how it compares as spawn as it's less nutritious so I'm not sure yet, check my threads if you wanna follow.
