nervous first timer for pf tek. these are B+ strain, and im wondering if these are fruiting right? theres 4 mushrooms on the cake total, and all 4 growing diffrently. 1 has fatass, ands the one next to it is also a fatass but very smalle. Then on the other side of the cake is a skinny stem with dark brown cap, the one next to it is also skinny stem but has a white cap. Any feedback is much appreicated.

Mushrooms do strange things, assuming this is a multispore you'll never know what you're going to get for mutations. Looks good so far. What style of fruiting chamber are you using?

Looks great. With ms your fruits will be very different from one another which can be a good thing. It looks like you've got an albino growing there. If it were me I'd clone the albino b+. Novelty growers like myself are always looking for interesting mutations and such. Keep it up looking good so far.

It doesn't look like your holes are 2" apart in your pic. A properly built SGFC will have 1/4" holes 2" apart on all six sides in a grid pattern.

The cakes look alright but I don't see many holes in your fruiting chamber. They really need to be every 2 inches.
Also next time try putting a thick layer of verm on top and bottom of your cakes. It really helps the cake maintain water and makes for a great little microclimate. I like to water the top and bottom layer of thick verm once or twice a day along with regular misting and fanning. Just look up top watering or bottom watering although it's pretty much just what I mentioned. When I say thick layer of vermiculite I mean like a 1/2 inch or more. Seems to really help me out with keeping the cakes hydrated. Good luck!

I have 18 jars that have been incubating since last Monday so far 9 to 10 of them are showing great colonization. Should I rule the others out just yet?

Chris 1987...No just wait it out and see what they do. Sometimes it takes weeks to see growth. I'm sure they will colonize or contam sooner or later. Also you can't thread jack. Read the rules cause most of the time you will get bashed for thread jacking.Good luck

yep. i failed at reading directions. i will be adding more holes right now and just a heads up the humidity is that low because i was fanning at the time of the pic. the humidty is stable at 95-99 percent. what do you folks think about the lighting. my FC is right next to a window and direct light never hits the box.

I wouldn't recomend adding verm after your dunk and roll that would just make it easier for contams to set up shop.

Ambient light from a window is fine. No direct sunlight though. Also your perlite should be 3-5" deep. looks like you should add some more.
should look like this.

After birthing and first dunk, then add verm. Also I've added verm after all dunks up to the third flush and have yet to have a contam until after my 3rd to 4th flush. I tried it both ways and the cakes that I've rolled each time always out perform the ones I don't roll.

And these are what my cakes turn out like.

I would wait now until after your first flush. Then dunk again for 16-24 hours then don't roll again just add verm to top and bottom. There's plenty of people that will tell you to only roll after your birth dunk and roll, but I've also talked to plenty that roll after each dunk. Id try it and see how it works for you if you notice contams are setting in early then I would stop, but I haven't had a contam until after my 3rd flush and usually it's 4th flush before contam sets in. You get the majority of your fruits on 1st and second flush anyway so anything after that is really not much. I only keep them around till they contam because I have the room for them and I like seeing how far I can push them. I'm new myself but I've done over 100 cakes now, and LOTS of verm especially on the first Dunk and roll works wonders along with bottom and top watering. My best flush so far is over 175 wet grams off one 1/2 pint single flush. good luck to you.
