another 941 hotplate question
    #21267823 - 02/13/15 07:14 AM (9 years, 3 months ago)

I just need to know if theres a hotplate that will heat one of these badboys. Outdoor propane is mot an option since id have to carry it back in and down stairs.  Im really regretting not getting a 75x but tought 2 941s would be better and im sure return shipping would be ridiculous. I want to keep it cheap but at this point if I have to I will either send. The unused 941 back and get a 75x or if I can get a hotplate truly proven for the longhaul id pay over 100 each

Ive also wondered if I could get a stove and somehow legnthne the cord to run 15 ft maybe more to a 220v stove outlet. When ppl say to use an inch of water do th mean before or after u add stuff?

I run about a 30 foot extention. Just make sure it is of sufficient wire gauge. Also look into 'canning elements' - special burners (cheap) to replace stove burners to avoid warping the stove top.

So u use a regular stove as well?  My stove upstairs has a different end on it with 3 flat prongs where my 220 outlet downstairs is for one with 2 flat and a right angled one meant for our dryer but can I get new ones if I find an old stove and put it on?

yo cap turtle!
im in same boat.  its a violation of our lease to use open flame, so we need to go electric.
if u can, link me to what u plan on using, cause otherwise, we might do the same, and sell the 941, and use the cash to get a 75x.  but also don't' wanna pay shipping and all that.

Im thinking ill just have to make do one way or another :frown: I set two separate burners under it and heated up id guess in an hour.  Im gonna do a 6 bag sawdust run today and see how that goes. The hotter of the two burners I have is 1100 watts and only 11.99 on amazon.  I will link you to it when my macbook charger gets here this afternoon.  There are also some broil kings and cadcos I believe in the 1500w range.in the revirws ppl have used them fine w a 30q all american so id thibk theyd work  Onr of these might fair. Ive akso seen 220 v hotplates im sure work better.  The heating element in the 75x is only 1600w.  Where did you guys order from? Eberything kitchens or something like that?

About how much do you think it costs fishy to go to a lowes and buy 20 ft extension and the switch kit to the other type of cord. I think I will order two of the vheap 11.99 burners for now while I wait for a free stove on craigslist  anyone ever had an actual stovetop not be hot enough or big enough? A stove downstairs would actually solve a lot of problems lol

Probably 40 bucks or so. I made a big extention cord to run a stove, welder, and other stuff. It's 30' or so and was the best wire they had and it was 80 bucks if I remember correctly.

I think this is definitely doable.  Now my next problem becomes will I be able to use 2 941's on one electric stove?  I figure at worst, I could heat them to temp and transfer one to a smaller burner to maintain while starting the other one shortly thereafter.  The only problem is going to be I cannot use a timer like I had hoped with hotplates.  Still Hopeing someone has an answer as to a hotplate that will work....
