Ilwaco Wa. find.
    #2128349 - 11/21/03 10:43 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Found about 10 grams wet. Seemed like a mix of azures and cyans. It was classic azure territory. Dune grass on sandy soil. Some of the more mature specimens had the distinctly wavy cap like cyans, while some didn't. Lots of pins left, but it froze pretty hard the night I was there. Wish I had a way to post pix.

well, P. azurescens can be wavy in the margin at times, though rarely so.

it is unlikely that you found P. cyanescens in the described habitat.

either way, great find. be safe with them, they are not to be underestimated.

the freez you mentioned will likely end the fruitings, but you should expect the present pins to mature, though perhaps more slowly than normaly if the cold persists. if they abort, it's no harm to collect them before they begin to rot, and PNW woodlover aborts are a thing to prize, if you have enough of them.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
