i found one solitry cyanescens
    #2127959 - 11/21/03 07:26 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

In the same park I've looked in for the past few days, I was poking around and I found what I think is a cyanescens. The weird thing is there was only one I found, and it was pretty small. Mycelium all around it though. Either way, It looks like a cyan, and the cap has now bruised blue. I tried for a spore print, but I had limited time and after about 2 hours and 45 minutes no spores had dropped.

Does a galerina bruise blue?

Nope, the Galerina does not bruise blue.  However, be sure that the bruising on your mushroom is in fact blue, and not a dark brown or rusty color.  And if it is the Autumnalis you are worried about (which you should be), be sure that the stem is a pure white (a blue tinge is OK ) and a veil is NOT present.

That being said, congrats!!

Perhaps someone has already found your location and you found a pin which they had left?

galerinas do not bruise blue. they can bruisa blackish color that has confused people in past cases wich have resulted in poisoning.

the surest way to rule out the galerinas is to take a spore print.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

The stem was white upon picking, but faded to yellowish. Also, around the edges of the cap, there was a DEFINITE greenish tinge. Combination of blue with the cap color?

P. cyanescens caps rarely stain blue, Maybe a tiny bit around the outer edge of the cap.

The stem is pure white and will stain blue and it is not yellow in the stem.

hmm, perhaps another hygrocybe conica? they blacken in the cap, stem is yellow, and they tend to grow singularly

Weird. All I know is that the outermost rim of the cap stained green, and a spot deep in the cap. The stem WAS pure white, but the shroom has since dried a little and it has yellowed. There is also a bluing of the stem at the part I popped the cap off at.
