ID Request

Hi,
Went on my first forage this morning and came home with two sets of samples. I went with a guy who goes regularly and only targets one specific type, but I had done some research and had my eye out for something else also. Both sets of samples were forraged in Northern NSW, Australia, in an open cow paddock. We had some steady rain followed by a day or two of good sunshine. Both samples are shown below.
Species #1:

These are the ones my friend always collects. They are small (cap typically < 20mm in diameter), have a very slender stem, and a bell shaped cap, yellow / brown tinge on the top, dark coloured gills, and bruise to purple. No skirt. These were mostly growing directly out of the cow dung.
My friend calls these Gold Caps, but from photos it seems to me that these might actually be Psilocybe Semilanceata, or Liberty Caps. Regardless, he eats these regularly (I have sampled) and they indeed provide a nice trip.
Species #2:

This is what I went out looking for. It is my hope that someone can confirm that these are Psilocybe Cubensis, or Gold Caps. They are much larger than the other sample, more robust all round physically, with that beautiful golden colour on top of the cap. Older samples had more purpling around the fringes of the cap. Brown to almost black gills, and I spotted several that had left the grass quite black underneath where the spores had dropped. These were typically NOT growing directly out of the dung, although it's possible the dung had broken down to the point it was no longer obviously there.
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

You've got Copelandia and Psilocybe cubensis, both are active.

Thanks very much for the ID, much appreciated. I'll be focusing on the cubensis now that I'm sure of what they are. The copelandia's are fun but it takes a lot more of them to fill a bag.
Thanks again, and pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Yea but the Copelandias are considerably more potent.

Thanks Ran-D, hadn't considered that there was a large difference in the potency, but having just done some additional reading I now see your point. The extra effort could be well worth it.

Copelandia are much more desirable than P. cubensis in my opinion. They achieve a much nicer trip and you don't have to consume as much. Also there is no extra effort like you mentioned, they grow on dung in pastures just like P. cubensis.
Happy hunting.

Thanks midnight city, at least this time out the copelandias were more hidden and therefore harder to spot than the cubensis, which is what I meant by effort. I've decided that I'll collect whatever I find from both varieties and just combine them. Just need to experiment a little to see how that affects dosage, which will be part of the fun.

With your copelandia's mate, were the stems quite firm or relatively soft when squeezed? I think i may have picked some today and discarded them because they were so small - Complete opposite to subs which im used to picking and i found the ones today growing in horse shit

Hey mate the whole mushroom is very fine and delicate. They bruise pretty quickly too. There was another variety where I was foraging that was very similar physically, but the gills were a very consistent caramel colour, so there are definitely other mushrooms out there that could be mistaken. And yep they were all growing straight out of the cow pats.
My advice is grab some next time and put them on here, someone will be able to tell you for sure.
