growing sclerotia?

Alright so I've been wanting to grow psilocybin mushrooms for a while now and i've been researching the different way. I think what I want to do is use Mad bags to grow sclerotia (truffles) from pscilocybin mexicana invitro. does anyone have any knowledge in this or wisdom to share. Thanks

Well I wanted to harvest the sclerotia, but now i'm thinking I could just let them fruit in vitro. What do you think? I've heard penis envy is a good strain for this method.

Do both. The cubes will happen faster than the stones. If you start both at the same time and just keep your self busy playing with the cubes, next thing you'll know is your harvesting some stones.

i would not try to fruit sclerotia forming species in vitro. they will just form stones in vitro. maybe if u open the lid it would work u have a higher chance of success with just going for stones. if u aren't working with agar, u have an equal chance of getting a dirty cube syringe, and a dirty sclerotia species syringe, so u should decide which one you want to do, or which one u are able to pull off in ur situation.

Make sure you don't order the P mexicana "Jalisco" variety - you'll want mexicana A or the other stone producers in the section mexicana (galindoi, tempanensis). Jalisco is only good for fruiting.

i got no stones from "chicon nindo" as well just FYI. not sure if that is common or not.
i'd go with ATL7 if u can. if u like looking at really clean spore solutions under the microscope, i'd hit up spore works.

My opinion is if you are going to fruit just go with a type of non sclerotia producing species, because like mentioned you will get your fruits faster, not to mention the fruits are more potent than just eating the sclerotia.

So chicon nindo is not a stone producer?? I just ordered some spores under the impression that all mexicana produced stones .

for me, they did not produce stones in vitro. they did produce stones in bulk. i was working with an isolate from spore though. could have just been a genetic thing
in either violets or stone suns threads, they talk about the different species and varieties that do better or worse as far as stone production and/or fruiting capability, so check that out.

Take a note from my book, Tampensis ages a light brown. I threw away two agar plates thinking they were contamed. I later read this is perfectly normal, I guess I should have asked.

I think chicon nindo and jalisco both produce stones - just not very well. I got less than 2 grams dry stones off a quart of wheat berries.
When you look at the good stone grows on here - stonesun and violet's teks and/or logs are good places to look - you'll see mexicana A strain, tamps and galindoi. I wouldn't nocc up a ton of jars with chicon nindo expecting a large stone harvest. I'd grow them our for fruits and order or trade for a more solid stone producer. Good luck
Just FYI I have more stones in my 1 month old galindoi jars than I had in 6 month old jalisco jars and my jaliscos all ended up fruiting in vitro.

i agree with urthtown. i would stick to ATL7 or tamp. although workman has said tamp is slowest of stone producers (but still yields well) i haven't found that to be true. tamp on par with ATL7 as far as speed of stone production. ATL7 was easier to fruit though when spawned to bulk. seemed less picky about environment. i have not messed with p. mex a strain, or jalisco though, so can't speak to that, but i remember cron saying he also did not get in vitro stones with jalisco, but did get them in bulk.
the prints from stone producers are worth their weight in gold in the marketplace, so whatever u ordered should treat u well come trade time

I'm still getting in trades from my jalisco prints even though my stone grows failed. Also mexicana fruits are AWESOME. I love me some mexicana fruits. I rarely eat cubes these days.
