Quote:
Good morning.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is SR Doug.
In October 2013, I was hired by Dread Pirate Roberts a/k/a Blake Benthall as lead programmer for Silk Road 2.0. From November 2013 up until the FBI seizure in late 2014, I oversaw the website from behind the curtains and managed the bulk of its servers. I was paid over 1,200 BTC for my service.
I have been sitting on a large database backup containing the usernames and hashed passwords of 476,122 users, 51,490 deposit addresses, 7,756 plaintext passwords, 13,280 product listings, 52,481 private messages, 145,493 transaction records and the entire Silk Road source code.
If you have not heard of DarkLeaks before please read:
https://medium.com/@ZozanCudi/darkleaks-information-blackmarket-1ee5ac28c892
Basically it is a crypto method for anonymously selling information for Bitcoins.
Today I will start with the user table dump containing 476,122 user account details. The dump is a 44MB text file. No passwords, only hashes.
https://mega.co.nz/#!kApCwa5T!Oj61cXAXBkBzXJAiF_EIcapP_IRlkJPhll9XarexJQw If the above link does not work, try: http://32lyyt7w2hvzlpvu.onion/download/6dc7a1421cf93bbbef0d9c6d6e6149e4
At block height 343278 I will prove possession of the encrypted files by releasing 10 of the 100 chunks. These chunks will be selected at complete random, provable by the blockchain so that you can be sure it is authentic.
I will then begin to sell the remaining after people confirm its legitimacy. If this user table is sold off successfully I will offer the rest of the tables including the 7,756 passwords stored in plaintext. If anyone would like to purchase the source code, please notify me of your interest.
You can read more about and download DarkLeaks here: https://github.com/darkwallet/darkleaks
This post will mark the first ever serious leak using a trustless information market.
I can always be contacted here or at https://www.reddit.com/user/sr_doug/.
Edit: 10 chunks have been released. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=952177.msg10447311#msg10447311

I'll allow some time for everybody (or 10% of you) to find themselves in here. As I said, this first dump only contains usernames, internal user IDs, some basic account type information and hashed passwords. The method of hashing is sha1(salt + password) with a single static universal strong salt. PM me if you are interested in purchasing a peek at the salt.
More?
Once you are all satisfied that the dump is authentic I will start with these chunks if you find yourself wanting more.

I think this is worthy of the news service here. Kman and I have been following for 2 days. It appears to be real at this point.

vendor accounts look legit, but it could be a compilation (only 31). I suppose the buyer accounts will tell. No word on of its legit yet. Don't have access to my comp right now so I can't look
-------------------- Difficulty has more to do with reading abillity and ability to precisely follow directions. You need no knowledge of chemistry whatsoever, you just need to understand some basic principles as simple in concept as: water boils at 100C and freezes at 0C. Otherwise all published syntheses of organic and inorganic compounds can be reproduced successfully by pretty nearly anyone with at least average intelligence. Problems always have to do with availability of materials, not esoteric knowledge.

Can someone explain this to me on what exactly this guy is doing by selling off this information? I'm not bitcoin savvy and the whole anonymous bit... if it was anonymous, what's the point of this information?

I don't really know whats going on here.
Is this guy selling this information or is he creating a job listing for himself and using that information to legitimize his claims?

Seems to me he's putting up for sale PM's, bitcoin deposit addy's, and transaction records. I do believe that is called 'extortion' if you had an account and don't want someone else to have that info. But sounds like he is ready to sell it to anybody that wants it. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a game of "best offer". Glad I had nothing to do with that site or the original SR.
Also if you click on that link at the top it takes you to a bitcoin message board. 4 page thread so far. Some ppl are claiming he's bluffing. Worth keeping an eye on just to see what happens. Good reminder to everyone that even with tor or any other encryptions someone can easily have you by the balls.

SR 2.0 was a piece of shit. Only people that used it were greedy vendors and people that didn't know about the better sites. Only people that have to worry about this are fucking morons that didn't learn how to use PGP for bulk orders. This information can easily be copied, whos to say he doesn't sell it again 2 weeks from now... C Don't use DNMs without first reading about basic OPSEC, otherwise you will get fucked later down the line when the site either extorts you or LE seize the server. Considering the FBI probably has most if not all of of this information, its really worthless unless you plan on using the information to rob or extort people.

Shit. You're right. I totally spaced that.
Or actually, think it may have all been encrypted when the FEDs got to it? I'm damn happy that I was a PGP freak. Never sent messages without it.

They had everything this guy has months before they busted DPR. They got all his BTC accounts, his PMs, all the account info and everything else so I doubt there is anything new in here.
The guy selling this is a complete POS, he's trying to extort the community or sell it to LE. As I already said though, it doesn't really make much sense. I doubt its really worth anything...

You could send out 10,000 letters telling people were to donate BTCs or else you will call their local PD and tell them about their purchase. You might make money that way from people that are afraid. It don't see how that could be worth that much though.
