This is my first post here. Im just about to run out the door but I figured I would do a quick post about my project this morning. I was in the store and saw "King oysters" for the first time. My first thought was can I grow these ? So this morning I went to it.
Cleaned and sterilized everything as well I could (complete noob here) Sterilized a razor in boiling vinegar. Washed everything except the shrooms with vinegar, soap, hot water. Boiled squares of cardboard then cooled them to room temp, damp but not wet. Cut up the shrooms and separated the clean inner material from the exterior. Separated the cardboard and placed pieces of shroom in each square on the wavy part and covered it back up. Placed each square into a ziplock bag slightly open. Labelled each bag "root" "stem" "cap" depending on the material I used.
Now I guess I place in a dark room and wait. Cool or dar idk ill have to read some more. This is really just an experiment. I think the next step is to figure out what the best substrate is to grow these on. From what ive seen oysters dont seem to require the high levels of humidity that cubensis and such require. As they appear to be grown in open jars and buckets on shelves. Unless thats my imagination.
The images are from my ipad so they may be upside down lol I hope not....
Thanks !

Thanks We will soon see if the experiment was a success! These were done open air. That could be a problem... I have plans to make a clean box down the road.
