Okay so iv been doing cubes for awhile I'm ready for something with a little bit more difficulty but I have a couple questions this is what IV found putting all the info iv gathered together using cow manure straw Verm mixing that stuff then putting into spawn bags ... How long do you PC the spawn bags for ? And I have a 63 qt monotub can I just use that and make a thin layer of peat casing over it or is trays my best bet I have never done trays Iv always enjoyed doing monotubs but whatever is best for this species im really excited , I'm doing spore to agar , agar to bags , bags to tub or trays which ever or .

Good luck with your grow!

My friend grown Cyans with success, they are harder to grow, yield is smaller but they are worth the effort  :inlove3:

Out of curiosity, is there any reason you want to sterilize instead of pasteurize your sub?

The pasteurization is carried out for a prolonged time at around 170°F and is supposed to kill only heat susceptible organisms and their spores, while sterilization works at a temperature of 250°F and is supposed to kill all organism Read that on this website , not my quote but wouldn't you want anything killed so nothing can contam the cyrans because they are very sensitive ?

u can sterilize ur substrate, but then u need to do inoculation and spawn run in sterile conditions.  a bag would be ideal.
i never sterilized anything with pans
poo, straw, peat casing 1:4 ratio, done
the microbes NOT killed during pasteurization are ur friends.  they protect ur substrate against foreign invaders as the mycelium colonizes it.

they are like edible panties, they protect what is sensitive, but when the times comes, they can just be eaten up

:whathesaid: Just to elaborate a bit, their natural habitat is actual feces so they're very used to most of the bacteria you commonly encounter in poo.  And when you heat up the substrate you select for bacteria that aren't very good at reproducing at room temperature and present less of a problem.  The most pathogenic bacteria in humans, as a rule, tend to be the ones that thrive at our body temperature for obvious reasons.  IMO the same goes for substrates.
