I was taking some photos of my greenhouse plants earlier and thought I could share a group of 3 year olds. Astrophytum asterias. I hope they bloom this year.

And nothing short of a catastrophe will keep them from blooming this year.

Ok. . a few days later and my Sea-Urchins have opened. They really do have a pretty flower. I like the reddish orange centers. Out of the 3 plants, 2 of them have the same tone of yellow in the flower, and the 3rd one has slightly more washed out white-yellow., but still really pretty.

Hope you all enjoy.

My two biggest cacti are Astros - A. ornatum

and A. myriostigma

both about 20 years old.
And two that I grew from seed, A. myriostigma var.nudum (no flecks on skin), and the biggest cactus I have grown from seed (my largest A. asterias visible to its right).

and A. myriostigma var.nudum var. quadricostata, the four-ribbed Bishop´s Cap variety - which has so far remained four-ribbed - they do have a tendency to revert to the more usual five-ribbed form.

They have all recently flowered, and the Bishop´s Cap is about to spill its seed on the ground.

Tell me this Zed, that ornatum is in need of a transplant bad. It has never flowered in my,possesion and im growing antsy. I would like to see it flower eventually and its been almost a decade of nothing even in a rock mix. Do you think there is a problem?
