Celastrus Paniculatus experience anyone?

I just ordered like 2 oz of the seeds in an attempt to get some to sprout, as well as just use the seeds. I had ordered some in the past and really enjoyed its subtle but great effects. I recently remembered about it and finished my last little bit, setting 10-20 seeds into a glass of water to test the viability. Then ordered more, I also ordered two different tinctures, one from where I got the seeds which was a bit more pricey, and one cheaper one off ebay. I was hoping someone here would have more experience with it, there is not much info on growing it that I can find at least. I will do some more in depth searches and post any info I find here if anyone else is interested.
For those who don't know Celastrus Paniculatus is a plant with a long highly regarded relationship with ayurvedic medicine. It is used as a brain tonic, due to natural nootropic and neuroprotective qualities. It is said to sharpen the mind, help with memory, aid with dreaming and dream recall, potentially increase libido, motivate, and I have read it makes ganja less hazy feeling. I have also read you have to be careful what you combine it with since it has powerful brain enhancing effects. My thoughts on that were it may make certain drugs more intense and or dangerous depending on what they are.
I have noticed definite dream enhancement using it, and I have also felt its memory enhancing and brain sharpening effects too though I have never taken too large of amounts. People tend to start by eating a single seed, then increase the amount by one per day. Eventually working up to 100's of seeds potentially. Recently though I have just been toss and washing pinches of it and noticed its effects more. I am excited to get a fresh supply, the seeds I bought are supposedly very high quality and oil rich.

I totally found that thread whilst looking into it and was considering resurrecting it, I guess it has some pretty recent posts actually.
I will have to read through it all too see if there's much good info.

I've been interested in this plant for a while too. Has anyone ever successfully germinated a seed? Are there any known clones in the US?

I just did a search again on a popular auction site just for the heck of it, not really expecting to come up with anything and sure enough... There is a seller on there that has small packs of extremely fresh seed that he claims have been tested at 85% germination. I ordered some already.

Thanks for sharing! That is a great germination rate. Perfect for starting a solid amount of them. I just looked around and found a sight offering 25 "live seeds" for 3$ but thy don't offer any info on them really. I assume the live part means they will germinate though, sounds like you found a better source potentially.

Everything I have read about this plant is that the germination rate of the seeds is abysmal. Usually with claims something like irradiated at customs.

Hope those seeds germinate, definitely keep us posted. Been looking for fresh seeds for a while myself as I never had any luck with my imported bulk order from India.

The few I have been soaking look ready to try potting, and I found a site that sells "live seeds" Sorry to hear bulk didn't work out, I was thinking of trying that too. It sucks there are not any live plants anywhere I can find either.

Just figured I would make a quick update, the seeds I had been soaking seemed very ready so I went ahead and potted them all. I will make another update if I see any good signs. In the meantime I will probably buy some of the "live" seeds I found.
Its annoying though because on the page it says "ordering options" "25 live seeds] or 1 live plant" then has no option to buy the plant...
I found a cheap Calea dream herb on another site I may buy in th meantime as well.
