First grow is planned to be complicated.. help?

So, after reading for the past few weeks, I have a few questions (and wondering if this is even possible). I know this is a lot more trouble than it might be worth, but this is the safest way I can think of going about it.
My plan: Use dried mushroom to create an agar dish (i searched this forum to see if this is possible and saw RR saying it definitely is) of mycelia (probably sure to be riddled with contams), make a couple transfers if possible to attain some clean mycelium for which to then transfer to BRF jars for use in growing.
I'm wondering if there's a better way to go about doing this other than buying spores off the internet?

that sounds overly complicated and agar -> brf cakes isnt a good choice. you could slurry the agar plate to a liquid and inoc brf cakes tho.

With a sterile pair of tweezers you can remove a piece of gill and gently wipe it on the surface of an agar plate. If it contaminates, you can try serial dilution.

I thought when using dried specimens, I was supposed to leave an entire piece in the agar?

I sure wouldn't. It's not going to revive. It will very likely have spores on it, though, and they might germinate. But you can skip a lot of the risks by taking a piece of gill which was somewhat protected from falling spores and bacteria by its hidden position under the cap and wipe some spores onto the agar, and they'll germinate.
