bush against constitutional rights for gays, vows to amend
    #2125971 - 11/20/03 07:46 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

trying to coerce congress to change the constitution
yet again mind you, but this time its purely to suit his religous beleifs.

you know what? i bet when he heard the news that it was un constitutional to not allow gay marriages, bush said "unconstitutional? so change the constitution again!!" then went back to monkeyfucking tony blair.

I'm neither gay, nor planning on marrage, BUT:

If that becomes the next amendment (as opposed to a balanced budget act or one of the many other amendments we desperately need yet cant get passed) I'm fucking moving.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

To be honest, I feel as though its beyond the people's power to improve.  I've done my share of rallies and petition signing and I still will while I'm here, but I'd rather just live a peaceful existence away from all the madness.  I'm a hermit at heart.

once upon a time americans were expected to rise against their government should it become hopelessly corrupt, that was the vigilance that was nessisary for liberty in fact it was the law. now it's terrorism.
presidency is a farce, look at republican leadership through history, good old boys, celebrities, talking heads with a gun pointed at them.
immagine the president comming out and saying "this administration is corrupt and i intend to root out all corruption in the system and make our leaders truly accountable for thier expenditures and benifets for all to see as the price of power.

he would go the way of JFK

but a president wouldn't say that, they dont make men with integrity presidents, they don't want to have to kill them. they wan't good old boys to wave the flags and act as a nationalist focus, a david to lead them, someone with answers, any answers, and the balls to act on his convictions.

a monster to demonize, a face to cultivate the hate of others. sheilded by the money of the workers and the blood of the innocent, sitting high above the platform of war with promises of propserity to all who give their minds to him, swift retribution towards opposition in the name of god, in his own words, a devil.

come to canada, maybe we aren't perfect, but we don't claim to be, that's an important difference i think. we just try to be.
our government makes mistakes, but it still is accountable, we have real elections, great healthcare, the people are great, abbandon only your prejudices and you can be very happy here. let the american dreamers stay and take up all the land left, the country will become more and more concentraited with nationalist zeal and conversely xenophobia and paranoia, maybe you'll be glad you got out early.

i really can't see the country surviving much longer, the propaganda machine is just too bare, to clear, the media too full of shit, too much consumerism. and therefore desire for possesion. which i beleive is not the path to fulfillment, but the opposite direction, the polar opposite logically. the problem is that unobtainable dream handed out to those of a particular class, the benchmark for desire, the envy, the greed. entertainment laced with themes that excersize our ability to covet. to take ourselves for granted.

even rats respect themselves enough to leave a sinking ship.

there has yet to be any change made to the constitution. the current amendment people are talking about, the federal marriage amendment, was cooked up by 6 representatives... 3 republicans and 3 democrats, but it hasn't even collected enough signatures yet to be considered.

in order to make a constitutional ammendment:

"The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures. None of the 27 amendments to the Constitution have been proposed by constitutional convention. The Congress proposes an amendment in the form of a joint resolution. Since the President does not have a constitutional role in the amendment process, the joint resolution does not go to the White House for signature or approval."
http://www.archives.gov/federal_register/constitution/amendment_process.html

this was all actually set in motion in 1996, when bill clinton signed the defense of marriage act, which prevents federal recognition of same-sex marriage, and allows states to ignore same-sex licenses from outside their borders.

you say that as if americans can just pick up and move over. well, maybe we can but to actually gain citizenship requires a lot more than a large majority of americans, including myself, can offer. i've researched this because i was very serious about doing it. i'm sorry, i haven't held a highly respectable, high paying job for 3+ years at the same place. fucking lower your expectations and i'll come on over.
