Gym, or big ass Russla thing?
Habitat: Where does it grow? Elevation few hundred feet.. Ocean in sight, on a cliff. Found under Coastal Pines. Not sure if, pine needles, soil, or the root of the Pine was the primary habitat.
Gills: Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
Stem: Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: Unsure, too late
Bruising: None
Other information: Took a chunk and tossed it around in my mouth and spit it out. Wasn't bitter like Gyms.. Ate some deli meat and oj and brushed my teeth.
Side note, almost certain the west coast var. of LuteOfOlis is Inactive. No bruising or side effects from my last find. No bruising in the recent find. Doubtful of activity.
Anyone interested in microscoping?

That's actually Tricholomopsis rutilans and not a Gymnopilus.

No problem, and yeah they are cool mushrooms. Those pictures look like it was young enough that it should have made a good spore print given enough time. If you printed it on white paper, white spore prints can be very hard to see.

I thought it was a fun change of pace! The terrain was more than magnificent! It always feels like you're in a movie in mendocino. Lord of the rings type shit haha .
Anyways when mushrooms get slow and I see something so incredible, it moves me onward to find the next nearest jaw dropper. Quite fun I found 5. I left 4other ones to grow, all singular, troop like fashion, except for the big one, it was probably 12 feet away from the 5 foot radius of the cluster.
Saw lots of huge galernias that day
