No GE hole needed for that jar. A solid lid will do. that's why I angled the jar in the video at the camera for a second so you could see my lid type.

Right, PC'd my water in jar have 10cc's of water in a syringe from the easy innoculant w/o blender method by RR have squirted all of it into the jar and have shaken it.
i can see the myc all through the water..
now, i cant seem to get an answer about sterilizing my wbs grain jars in a pc that only goes to about 10psi..
soooo.. ill make brf cakes...
how much innoculand do i need to inject to the brf cakes? is it the same as using a spore syringe? or do i need more?

Easy LI without a blender by RR? Didn't know that video exists.
For cakes, 0.5 cc per hole should be good. but make sure u make ur cakes a little drier. As for wbs at 10 psi, just pc it longer. Instead of 2 hours do 3.

how much cc's for grain jars? then do i shake it or just leave it till i see growth? and should i push the syringe down into the grain or just drop on top?

5-10 is probably good. Too much and it will pool at the bottom. If you expanded the LI to the bigger jar, just pour it out of the bottle rather than make syringes from it
Shake the jars right after inoculation. Do not put the needle in the grains let the solution drop onto it.

I put 10-20ml per quart jar using oats. I think they suck up moisture a bit more than other grains though?

5-10 is really just my best guess. I've never used a syringe with LI, only poured it. 10-20 doesn't sound unreasonable either. I just eyeball everything.
I did find, however, that I could get away with pouring more in my WBS by not washing it. I did a few batches of washed WBS and it would pool, then I would have to shake at 30% to get the bottom to colonize. Now I'm not washing the WBS, and still pouring the same amount, and it doesn't pool up. I guess the extra dust and debri helps soak up more of the liquid.

I've never used a syringe with it either. When I use GLC though I use around 5cc give or take. With LI I just pour from the jar so I was guessing as well. I don't think being worried about exact measurements is too important.

I use LI for everything and I have never measured or used a syringe. I can figure out roughly how much I use based on how many jars I'm inoculating and how much water a jar holds. I use roughly between 15-20ccs per jar most of the time. I never rinse grains. all that extra crap helps stop the LI from pooling on the bottom.

Ohhh really? I just forgot to wash 20 quarts of WBS and did 10 with LI and 10 with PF slurry. In the past my LI has always pooled to the bottom of my WBS jars so I'll report back if I get similar results. What's the harm in not washing/rinsing WBS?

no harm. saves time. its just a holdover from RR's videos. he told people to rinse grains and to remove sticks and shit in the spawn. well a bunch of us have been not been rinsing and have found it really has no effect on anything. rinse or don't rinse, growth wise it won't matter.

Right on. You cooled your loop before transferring spores. Are spores too vulnerable to do not cool the loop?
