Hey kid... wanna make your TiT 'bator sound fucking stupid?

Let's ignore the fact that I haven't even fruited my first jars and talk about TiT incubators.
I did the standard TiT Incubator per Frank's posted topic about it, except instead of the 35gal totes I used a couple of 106qt clear totes because I like letting the natural, ambient sunlight bathe my jars. Something about circadian rhythm, I don't know. It feels right, okay? Gawd.
I didn't really think about the physics of air trapped under the top tub, and so I have these totes with dumb concave bottoms to them, meaning a bunch of air gets trapped underneath. I wouldn't care about the "bloop" sound but it makes a water splash out of the tub every time it happens, probably because such a huge bubble gets trapped underneath.
(disclaimer: I've only had this tub set up for like a couple hours total)
So instead of doing the easy thing and wrapping saran wrap around the whole shebang to block the splash I thought "I'm a smart college dropout, I bet I can engineer that air buildup right out!"
Enter Prototype 1: "I have some extra aquarium tubing, why the fuck not?"

I thought this was kinda clever actually. I taped the tubing so one side is about center of the concave part, and the other end to the side of the tub above the water line. Couple things though:
- Three (actually 4 but one is below the water line) tubes is totally unnecessary. Only one tube actually does any pressure releasing. It goes in cycles of bubble growth -> critical mass -> vent air until the bubble almost disappears -> water splashes into the tube at the end and blocks the free flow of air, causing buildup until critical mass hits again.
- This thing will require very accurate alignment and precise tub setups to function correctly every time (correct functioning meaning no cycling) without constant adjustments, at least that's what my 30 minutes of fiddling has shown.
- Whenever it releases pressure it gurgles and sputters like someone's obnoxiously slurping a straw.
I do think I'm on the right track with this, though. I might be able to make it a little bit more active if I align the tube opening and the air stone.
I'm also thinking it might be possible to turn the slurping sound into gentle bubbles instead by leave the tube below the water line. I'm going to plug the 3 tubes exposed to air and see what happens and report back.
If I can't get this to work reliably and without much fiddling between water changes I have a few more ideas I'm considering.
First up is cutting a piece of 1" PVC in half and using silicon to fix it to the bottom of the tub so maybe the air runs off to the side to escape.
Cons: no stupid gurgling. Also my tub bottom isn't flat and has curvature/ridges to go over. Might not be a problem if I feel like spending a while sanding different sections down with the dremel too.
Second is the "brute force" method as I like to think of it. It consists of figuring out how to get the tub bottom hot enough to deform to either flatten the bottom out/remove the dumb ridges that trap air, or maybe heating up a round metal piece and using some wax paper between it and the plastic of the tub to melt/mold a channel into the bottom. That'll let air go straight off to the side. It can easily be tuned to work more consistently by keeping one side of the tub tied down a little more than the other, forcing the air in the direction of the channel.
Cons: I might melt straight through and have to patch it up, making the incubator look dumber than it currently sounds.
So yeah, that's what I've come up with. If anyone feels inspired, has suggestions, or straight up already solved this problem feel free to post. Today is a hobby day so I'm fucking with a TiT incubator.
ps I know newbs are steered away from fucking with incubators but I'm too warm-blooded to keep my room at 75f all the time. Plus the temperature fluctuates as much as 8 degrees depending on the weather outside, and I'd like to keep my jars in a more consistent environment during colonization.
also I'm bored.

What are the temperatures like in your house man? Chances are you dont even need it.
I only use my tub in tub when there's a problem with my furnace, even my basement is in acceptable temp range
