P. Galindoi question

How long does it take Galindoi spores to germinate? I have some on PDA, grain and BRF. Yes I know the BRF is wildly inappropriate for its typical purpose;I just wanted to knock up a couple cakes for actual fruiting to print sooner, and brf is pretty hard to fuck up. This is my first time with this variety, so if anyone has any favorite threads or teks they want to link, that would be great too!

Hamloaf had some on agar recently. I think it depends more on condition of your agar andcondition of your spores.

Ambient temp for the petris is 70F. I use Hetlik's grocery store agar tek. The spores came from a vendor and were shipped while outdoor temps were in the 30s and 40s.

is your agar really moist? I made some up, and its looks like kinda like dried wax. I'm waiting on some spores to germinate. I'll probably up the water a little more next time. When did you put the spores to them?

Agar is pretty moist. The agar has a slightly glossy look. Most of the petris have just a little condensation even. I cloned some oysters the other week on the same recipe, and they took a little bit of time to recover then went crazy on it. It has been just over 5 days. I am by no means worried yet, just excited and curious.

Okay, I'm sure you'll be fine then. I swiped mine about the same time, and I'm really trying not to ogle them all day. They're cubes not galindoi though, I'd be more excited if they were though.

I ordered a print of P. Galindoi last month. Made some syringes and inoculated 10 rye grain jars. It took about 5 days before I spotted signs of germination. This species seems to be an overall slower colonizer than cubensis.

Slow to germinate but once it's going it's very fast - G2G to fully colonised in three days

Also found it to be a fast colonizer.

I get that man. Just now turning over into the stone producers in a few days when I can do li. Gonna be very exciting. Check out a thread by aero on stones, it's amazing. I'm only a few weeks ahead of you now, looking at stack of colonized mex/a and galindoi plates a couple transfers from spores. A beautiful sight keep at it...

I'm jealous. My jars have been a bit on the slow side. I shook them last night. Maybe that will help.

That is pretty bad ass. If I clone a stone, do big stones typically yield more mass per quart of grain or should I look for a monoculture that produces large numbers of smaller ones?

It probably depends on the isolate I would imagine, but for what it is worth devilstone had a massive stone setup and his favorite isolate that delivered the most weight produced "pea" or "chickpea" sized stones.
Check it out.

Wicked. Strain isolation here I come. When ingclassy asked me how long ago I put these to agar, It hadn't really hit me how short it's been. I am not seeing any contamination in any of the 17 petris though, so that is a good sign, I guess.
