Minimum weight for threshold effects when microdosing

This has been peaking my curiosity lately.
I tried my first microdose experiment yesterday and it was a wonderful success.
Almost felt like a coffee buzz coupled with a more focused mindset that is very different from the jittery stimulation of caffeine.
I made a tea with 1.38g wet cyanescens, calculated it to be 6% of a normal 2g dry dose, however I was unable to compensate for wet vs. dry potency difference, so that percentage could have been slightly higher.
My question is how low can you go before it's completely unnoticeable?

I believe it depends on the individual, that dose sounds like its on the lower end of the threshold already though. I don't hear most people go lower than .5g Cubensis. Find out for yourself though, try .5g fresh cyans in tea next time, and post if you get anything

Microdose =/= low end doses - they are supposed to be sub-threshold doses.
I tried it on a number of occasions with truffles, with doses equivalent to 0.1-0.2g dried cubes. Not sure what that would equate to with cyans.

I just "microdosed" on 0.35g and had a great trip. I wouldn't even call it a microdose.

I disagree with this, if it is below threshold you feel no effects whatsoever.
Otherwise there would be no point.
What I'm trying to figure out is what people have experienced in terms of the lowest weight consumed,
equivalent % to a medium potency eighth of cubes if it's a different species,
to feel any noticeable shift in perspective.

Commonly when people talk about the threshold with mushrooms they mean the threshold of psychedelic effects, not the threshold of any effect whatsoever. I'd say the actual threshold you're talking about depends on how in tune someone is with their normal baseline shit, and thereby how subtle a shift they're keen to notice. Generally, the more subtle the effect, the wider the variance will be with regard to individual threshold. When I was experimenting with microdosing a couple years ago, I could discern the effects of .1g, but at .05g I couldn't consistently notice anything. I dosed by steeping the pulverized 'shrooms in hot water with a teabag, and the mushrooms I had at the time were homegrown and freshly dehydrated.

Ah I see, when I speak of threshold I use it as a general term to describe a point at which your normal state of conciousness is breached by the effects of whatever you consumed.
I realize some people are more sensitive than others but I'm still wondering how little someone has taken to experience any kind of effect.

0.05g!! You must be sensitive (or psyching yourself out placebo style), dankest I've had required 0.15g for a threshold. We'd usually take 1-1.5g for good effects; a guy took an eighth and had a level 3 or 4.

Your dose was .12g by your original post which is twice as strong as his. My microdosing experiment consisted of doses twice that strong .25g and I definitely felt them but I also lemon tekked them specifically to achieve a surge effect. Because it ultimately seems pointless to me, to take subthreshold doses unless one is taking them for cluster headaches or OCD, for example and definitely doesn't want to go on a trip. At .3 and up you risk going on a faint version of a trip.

I sit corrected, it was roughly equivalent to .24g of cubes.
You're are still caught up on what I mean by "threshold".
I don't define it as the threshold of psychedelic effect, I'm talking about any effect at all.
My microdosing experiment was most certainly not a psychedelic experience, but I did feel a stimulation that had better clarity than all the stimulants I've encountered so far.
Also for the OCD and cluster headaches thing I have no idea where you heard that, it requires a full psychedelic dose to alleviate cluster headache symptoms.
Patients with OCD are notoriously resistent to the effects of psychedelics, there was research conducted on this back in the 60's.

Didn't read the other responses in the thread, but my two cents...
Mushroom potency varies quite a lot.
With the really strong ones I used to grow I could feel as little as .1-.2. With weaker ones I'd say up to .5 for bare threshold effects.
This is just enough to know that something is different. Can be quite enjoyable actually, in situations where being too high would not be acceptable. I tend to feel pretty easy-going, calm, things have a slight sparkle to them, no visuals but perhaps enhancement of colors and perception in general. And I've surprised myself a few times by smoking a lot of pot while on one of these micro doses - things can get a little trippy, but definitely very subtle.
This effect can also be achieved with a couple mg of 4-aco-dmt

nothing's wrong with it at all! it's just that microdoses are technically sub threshold doses.
i was mainly speaking to carbonobo who mentioned that most people don't go below 0.5g. It seems to be a common misconception for a lot of people that any light dose is a "microdose" - i think it's just cause it sounds cool

0.5 is an entheogenic dose.
A microdose is more in the range of 0.1-0.25. Loosely packed in a 00 capsule you will be around the 0.25 mark.
You still get all of the benefits but at a non-perceptible level.
Your best bet imo (if you are serious about experimenting with it) is to read up on some of Dr Fadiman's work. He suggested a day off in between as well, for integration (as he did not believe that tolerance was affected in such small quantities).
Interesting stuff regardless.
I've found that it works far better if you aren't a chronic pot smoker as well. There is clarity on offer, and the canna just fogs the experience. After a few days of microdosing though, the pot experience becomes far more psychedelic.
