NZ is probably chockers with DMT containing plants
for example i rememeber hearing nothofagus (Antarctic beech) had tryptamines in the leaf - dont know what one or how much but the point is that its there
Australia has plenty of species with DMT i dont see why NZ would be any different while you look why dont you try growing Acacia maidenii and A obtusifolia, Mimosa scabrella and the Desmanthus species

Zeta: yes im in nz ..... thats why i asked about nz plants...(from memory im only about 3 hours drive north of you)
psiloz: ive looked rather extensivly here for acacias and couldnt find any.... not really sure why, it seems that like you say if theyre in aus then why not here....
same goes for desmanthus sp... easy to find elsewhere but not here....

I know you're in NZ silly I was asking magic_rah Incidentally I have seen heaps of acacias in Wellington. I'll dig up some roots when I'm up there at christmas and see if they are active. I'll try and identify the species too.

So has anybody got any suggestions on the best/easiest way to judge the level of activity of random acacias?

learn about chromatography (TLC is quick & easy, & can give you an idea of what alkaloids are there...)

Hey AU Check out http://www.nzseeds.co.nz/botanical.htm They have a few acacias including acacia longifolia which by many accounts has very decent amounts of DMT

Welcome to the Shroomery Outeredge
The thread you have posted to is over 10 years old now. Your question is borderline sourcing, which would be a breach of our rules if stated more explicitly. Please take a moment to read the rules for the Ethnobotanical Garden and the Shroomery in general.
