Excellent responses! Mr. Bojangles nailed it! You're up next.
If you can power thru the first 5 minutes of this video above, it should turn into something worthwhile for everyone.

The following fungus is an opportunistic plant pathogen that affects a wide host of vegetation, including many food crops. People with suppressed immune systems may be in danger of acquiring certain infections from the fungus. Just naming the genus will suffice for the following picture.

The chemical is a mycotoxin that has been shown to be a potent DNA mutagen in mammals. I have found literature as recent as 2012 showing that the chemical in question is a much greater DNA mutagen than other mycotoxins present in the fungus.

I'd like to warmly invite all Trusted Identifiers and aspiring Trusted Identifiers into this thread.
Everyone's welcome of course, but where are all the TIs?

Never mind, I found it!
The chemical is altertoxin II, found in Alternaria molds. As Mr. Bojangles said, it is a very potent mutagen, and can apparently break apart DNA strands! Attached is a paper about its toxicology.

Ok, here's the new compound:

This chemical is named, strangely enough, for a microscopic feature of basidiomycetes.
It is produced by, among others:

It is a potent carcinogen, mutagen, and teratogen.
The structure for which it is named is actually a part of the conidiophores of the fungus that produces it. It just so happens that basidiomycetes have a microscopic structure with the same name.
Its structure is based off the xanthone moiety.

Hint: The genus is Hericium. Many members have found this species while hunting. It is used in medicinal formulas, including one formula that is psychoactive (sensu lato).
BTW, here's the updated, ALPHABETICAL list of molecules (including atoms and enzymes) we have now mentioned in this thread:

Also, if you haven't already done so, please adjust your Shroomery - Account - Display preferences (...) to reflect the following:
A. Show full-sized hosted images instead of thumbnails? YES
B. Limit width of images in posts? 900 px.
The Shroomery looks a lot cooler with these two settings.

I have widescreen 16:9 monitor and 960px works really well. Also on a slow internet connection setting thumbnails to full sized doesn't work very well.
