Fruiting chamber advice

Hey y'all. My bud needs some advice re: fruting chambers:
He got an air pump and hose and all that. He wants to know the best way to rig it up to allow for max. air exchange in hopes of not having to open the lid except for the occasional misting. Apparently, he knows that C02 is heavier than air so it should stay towards the bottom of the chamber. Would mounting the hose just above the perlite be better or towards the top?
Also, seems like the C02 and 02 would just be churned around in there with the pump going, but no escape route for the gas. How does he deal with that?
Thanks in advance...
*my bud can't type or I'd have him post his own farggin' questions*

put an exhaust towards the bottom...
you'd do better to hook up a cool mist instead of an airpump. that would humidify it nicely too.

on second thought i wouldn't put a hole in it. hook the airpump up, but don't run it all the time, and don't expect it to make it so you don't need to fan. it'll bring some air in, but you're still gonna have to fan.
IMO hooking up an airpump to a terrarium is worthless. it's going to bring in dry air, and at best it'll be just the right amount... but it could be too little in which case you'll get too much CO2, or too much in which case you'll be to dry. fanning is just simpler, more easy to contol, and proven in my opinion.
now a coolmist... that's a different story...

"thanks for the honest assessment, mushmaster", my bud says. he says he will rethink his strategy - didn't think of the pump putting too much dry air in the terr.
... guess that's why he keeps me coming here all the farggin' time.

Put a bubble stone on the end of that air hose and put it under the perlite. Then the air will be help get the humidity up as well as stir up the air. Another thing that I did with my setup is to mount a computer fan on the side to draw air out through a filtered hole in the side. I haven't tested it all out but I have casing that's getting ready to go in there. I'll post some pics of it all soon.

the PMP is PiMP, no doubt, but Geolite is a fairy tale around here.

Lava Rock works just as good.

Lava Rocks are what I'm using. I've been running my setup just to make sure everything is ready to go when my straw gets colonized and the lava rocks seem to be working great to wick moisture. I can't wait to see how the fruits are going to like it.

thanks for the substitution tip, Magash. Guess my bud will read your tek once more as I am sure that's covered. anyone put like an airstone in a small dish of water in the chamber instead of under the perlite? better humidity, not so sure about the air exchange though. edit: spelling

I finally solved all my PMP problems. The humidity is back up (I covered two of my six exhaust holes with tape) and I added some more perlite. I've got two bubble wands underneath my perlite and since my casings just started pinning I'm thinking air exchange is pretty adequate.
So I thank you Magash. Yet again.

I am all but sold on this thing, now. My bud is cynical, but I think I can convince him
bad azz solution, Magash.
