Blackout, why did that jar pin invitro?

That jar was cased so that would have promoted pinning. Reading my old thread about it the jar was not fanned, seemed I did not have any spare tubs and just left it as an experiment, thinking the burnt grains would not amount to much.

I later mixed with cow manure and got more out of it.

Very cool. So, you spawned the fruited grains into some bulk after pulling some fruits from the grains?

Yeah, I think my incubator was freed up and since I knew they grew on burnt grains I chanced it, and it worked.

I have thought of buying roasted grains to grow on. These are used in homebrewing for making stout (guinness) or other dark beers. The grains are not that expensive and have already gone through a heat treatment. I had wondered if they can get away with a simple steaming because of this. i.e. are endospores killed off. I was posting in some other thread about this, I had found typical roasting times and heats used and it seemed plausible.

I also read roasted/toasted grains are used as animal feed, apparently they are more digestible, or something along those lines, I wondered if myc would make better use of them too, yeast certainly has no problem with it.
