how children turn out is largely due to the adults in their lives, parents, teachers, etc. You can't blame the baby for the mom being pregnant.

Walker has the momentum now. When he won the Wisconsin recall election he got his strength from rural counties. Wisconsin is 10% more rural than the U.S., so we will have to see how he plays to more urban areas. Iowa is 16% more rural than the U.S. and New Hampshire is 20% more. He may do well there. We will have to wait till the first super primary to see how he performs in urban states.

I'm not generally a fan of unions, but teacher's unions certainly aren't the only reason that American school systems suck.

Literally the only reason? That's a rather ridiculous claim; do you have any support for it? In a complex social/political system, rarely can anything be attributed to a single reason.
With schools, I think underfunding has a large impact, especially in poor neighborhoods.

Way to dodge the question. Do you have any support tat unions are the ONLY reason our school system sucks?
And I think our schools are underfunded. I know for a fact that they are in the school district I'm in. I've spent quite a bit of time talking with administrators and teachers here.
EDIT: didn't see your link. Will respond to it later, I'm on my phone and a bit busy at the moment. Sorry.

Of course they should. Why should people have to keep sending their kids to failure schools just because the government has a monopoly? Every child should get a voucher for schooling. What do we pay per student? $10K a year? Every kid gets a voucher for $10K and he chooses where he gets to go. Easy peasy and no more unions. Better schools less union. Win win.

Except for the 400,000 layoffs and empty public schools and buses and materials, yeah win win.
What do we spend on defense? Close to $1 trillion? Why don't we just give every adult $10,000 a year to defend themselves?

I would agree with a minimum wage IF AND ONLY IF it is set by state laws. One Size Fits all statism run out of DC helps some states and hurts others.
Let each state decide what the wage is. If they don't set it high enough, people will leave for greener pastures. If they set it too high, they will run businesses out.
Thats my main problem with most liberal policies of a central government running the show. the needs of people in state A are not the same as the needs of people in state B.

But it's not one size fits all. It's a minimum for the poor conservative states. Other states DO set higher minimum wages.
