When I talk to kids nowadays I always tell them to go to college and earn at least a Bachelor's. I think I say it because when I graduated HS I had every opportunity in the world to go to a great college and turned it down because I was more interested in chasing money and women.
When I talk to people my same age now they aren't doing any better than me financially though so what the fuck do I know? I know I'm happy with my current situation in life living a pretty simple life doing something I enjoy.

I think there's something to be said for re-examining what parts of the core curriculum really are essential, and maybe letting kids specialize in whatever they show aptitude in from fairly early on in school. That guy in the video annoys the fuck out of me though.

Agree with all the points in the OP video, education should be far more practical and relevant.
I am glad I got a degree and a masters because of the personal sense of confidence and achievement it gives me, but so far it hasnt paid off in a career that is better then what I could get with a high school degree. But fortunately I got full ride scholarship and graduated with no student debt, and I enjoyed school, so it paid off for me. But if I had to go into debt or pay for it myself, I would probably recommend not doing it and just working and saving instead.
I get personal pride out of it and fortunately didnt have to pay any tuition so I am lucky but most people I would say its becoming less and less worth while, unless you are in a particular narrow range of fields.

Well I had a high paying job but my boss was horrible so I left it, since then I have applied for like 60 jobs and not had any success getting a good one, except one job that had a good title but was like less then half time and didnt pay that much per hour. I just havent been able to land a good job so far sadly. I had a good job previously but left it for this other one, which then turned out to be a living hell so I had to leave it, and to my surprise I havent been able to get a good job since. Been depressing to be honest, and surprising.
I would think I have a killer resume and qualifications, but I am just not getting any call backs. I have 4.0 GPA, three degrees, college certificate, several scholarships including highly competitive national scholarship, management experience= and cant get a good job. No idea why.

Was doing good but a few bad choices (no way to know they were bad choices, they looked good on paper ) really fucked me over. Now I have at best an average/low paying job.

That depresses me.
I too wonder sometimes if continuing school isn't going to do much for me.
I guess I'll finish anyway but sadly it seems it really doesn't mean much.

Hmm. Yeah. I graduated recently and have been taking a few classes extra to prepare for grad school and I've gotten so many ?'s on like so you find a job yet.. shits annoying considering I don't know anyone with a good job they landed on their own.. most of my friends parents own companies strangely...

Yeah my wife is an exception shes doing amazing and landed a killer permanent job, shes super charming, talented, pretty and intelligent and has a masters too, but to be honest a huge part of it is she is a brown female. A lot of jobs hire minorities and females a lot more, being a white male has actually become a significant employment handicap where I live, I understand and support the reasons for these hiring policies but I find myself on the losing end of them (except that I benefit from my wife having a great job) but to be honest if I was an aboriginal or a brown female with my education I could write my own ticket.
I guess its the economy or something. If I had gone into student debt or paid my own tuition I would be really upset about this situation, but I actually made money going to school so I am slightly less depressed about it.
I am very fortunate to own my own home, own my own car and be debt free but damn unemployment is a bitch.

start your own business. this is what i did. i went to different businesses asked them if i could stripe their parking lot. a lot said yes. so i went to sherwin williams and asked to rent a parking lot striper and buy some paint, they said sure. it was all on credit. i striped the lots and made 2500.00 profited 1500.00 and that was my first year and i started 3 weeks before it began to snow. so in 3 weeks I made 1700.0 with only putting in gas money getting back and forth. I used that money to buy my own machine. the following year i went crazy with it and made 24,000. it was the easiest thing i have ever done.

Good for you. I dont have a business Idea. Well maybe I do. I find it hard to get going in life right now, which is weird because early on I was on a rocket ship success, but I seem to have hit a rut.

Here it is just better to learn a trade. You learn on the job and get skills that are in demand. One of my tweaker friends was a pipe fitter, he'd go out for three weeks, come back with ten grand and get high on meth. Another guy I knew did the same thing but just blew it all on coke. Pipefitters make good bux.
I applied for university but something tells me doing the trade thing is a better way to go. Too late now I guess.
