Coir bulk mix
    #21222321 - 02/03/15 05:30 PM (9 years, 3 months ago)

Hi everyone, so I'm gonna be doing a bulk spawn and wanted to know what some thought. I've been doing research and grabbing some supplies but ultimately I've decided to use the following.
Coir
Earthworm castings
Kelp meal
Coffee
Verm

Is this a solid mix? I plan on doing like 80% coir and using the Verm mostly to keep the medium airy. And as for the rest I havnt figured out the ratios yet because I hear so many different things. Do I have to worry about adding too much of anything, or am I just worried about the ph. And since I am adding several ingredients would it be wise to use calcium carbonate or hydrated lime as well? would crushed oyster shell help me in the long run here? Any advice is much appreciated, thank you!

If this is your first bulk spawn I'd stick with CVG until you get a successful monotub grow out of the way. You'll need to properly pasteruize using those adjuncts I believe.

find a coir tek such as damion5050 tek mentioned above and follow it to the T! do not deviate from a tek until you have a couple under your belt that have succeed before experimenting.
