side pinning identified.. now what

So remember that mini loaf bulk sub that had the slow pins..? I have now observed ~5 primordia forming in between the sub and baking pan where the mycelium has drawn away from the sides. I now realize I should have used a plastic lining but too late now... Should I leave the babys to do their thing or rebirth them into the open tub somehow? Is this even a good idea or would that cause too much trauma and disrupt fruiting? ...I love this!

A baking pan? Like one of the one-inch-deep guys? Just let it be. You'll be able to snip it off with scissors when the time comes, no problem.

Yes. the sub is about 2.5 inches deep. So I feel like I should leave it but I want to liberate it! Guess that's one vote against it tho.

My main concern is that a couple of them are deep down towards the bottom of the pan...I guess its OK as long as they grow up. ???

It's okay as long as you have scissors that can reach the bottom of your pan.

Or one of those thin exacto knives, they follow the sub nicely and can cut really deep in small space.
I wouldn't cut em early, they will probably be your bulkiest fruits

Oh hell no im not cutting those bad boys! Thou shalt not bare sward against thy first fruit. Duh... The shroom commandments. Everyone knows that... I cant help but wonder if maybe a casing layer would have helped this type of situation???

A casing layer would help to create that nice micro-climate on top instead of only on the sides, but a liner would help more.

Exactly. The only thing that persuaded me not to was RR encouraging no casing in every post.maybe I'll try wax paper

Well casing doesn't do much for cubes..only a few varieties (PE being 1). A liner would solve the side pinning more than wax paper or casing IMO. Use a liner next time and see what happens.

My conditions are dry as fuck so the casing layer is going to be beneficial for a more "set it and forget it" mono. I am actually doing a side by side right now to see how quickly the uncased tub dries out.

Cool. Casings are good in low RH environments for sure.

for sure case. If you're side pinning and your conditions are dry, your pins don't want to form on top.

Think I've decided to go with...a sgfc with the proper amount of holes, More fanning, and either wax paper or bubble wrap on top in my upcoming sub's. I've got a bag of jiffy seed starting mix so I'm ill probably break down and atleast case one sub. Im realy just being hard headed. There are plenty of ways to do this right, plenty of ways to do it wrong
