im sure you'd understand better if you saw it but my room is a mess. i have bar coasters on my wall, snowboards/used skis/skateboards/snowdeck/etc all over the room, a mexican blanket over my desk, fairys all over the fuckin place, tori amos posters (which im kinda over), and just junk. iwanna get a THEME going - a simple, clean look. i know about ikea and pier one... but any good online stores for cheap home stuff?

Forget the Ikea crap. Go for old. Antique or retro.

Most of my house is antique/retro. Most lamps are retro while all beds and my armoir are pre-20th century. This brings my computer desk to mind. I'm prolly giving away a great "invention" idea but has any1 ever seen a computer desk designed for 2 computers? I have this old (~1930) table that when compacted is only 3.5' tall and 1' wide. The table area lifts up in wings making it more like 8' wide (3.5'+3.5'+1' see?) The center part opens from either end to access shelves that are divided laterally down the middle so with the thing against a wall you have a false back to the shelves == great place to hide stuff. Anyways, with the way the tabletop wings up it is perfect for 2 people to comfortably sit at their own computer. I'd think that dual-computer tables would be highly marketable.... anyways....

go for an exotic Bali feel ...
that's what I strive for ...
unfortunately, the 'Bali Feel' requires ridiculous sums of cash ...
so on that note, go retro or go home ... and go retro ... or go home, so you can go retro ... blargh

I bought much of the stuff for my apartment from here. It is similar to Ikea, but much better IMO. They also have really great prices.
