Isolate vs clone question.

I am getting into cloning and isolating. Has anybody taken isolates of a clone, tested them all along with the clone and find an isolate that outperforms the clone? If so can some possibly point me towards a log. I tried to search but i mainly find threads explaining what the difference between a clone and isolate.
Man i just typed isolate and clone alot.

What im looking for is a side by side with the isolate outperforming the original clone. Or just some ones experience.

May or may not happen that way. Isolating one trait can cause weaknesses to others. My advice, pour lots of plates and label everything very well.

it can be tricky to not isolate when cloning but anything can happen, can go either way

So in theory i would be able to clone>x amount of mono sectors(and save whats left over of the original clone plate). Test run all mono sectors and original clone, and possibly the original clone could outperform all the mono cultures?

Yea man i could see that sometimes the strains that make up the clone might be better in combination as a whole than as individual strains. I could also see one of the strains out performing the clone
I say yea, save the clone, isolate the other sectors and keep notes when you test them out

Get you some test tubes if you're planning on doing some serious isolation work.
Whenever you take a clone transfer it out a couple times to make sure its clean then slant it.
That way you can always get back to the original culture if you wind up isolating crap.
