Hey guys, I just found in a Bunnings this 'Peruvian torch' was there so I bought it.
Anyone able to ID this for me if it's actually a Peruvian torch or some sort of ripoff or something?
Cheers guys

I'm only going off of pictures I've seen.
I could be wrong, but Pasacana and Werdermannianus are also POSSIBLE possibilities.
Someone will be able to confirm soon, I'm sure.

I'm no expert, but when you've grown Terscheckii from seed, and kept them for a few years, you can spot em a mile away, and I'm almost certain it's labeled wrong, and it is in fact a Trichocereus terscheckii.

Yep looks almost exactly like my tersheckii. Often I've noticed when buying plants at random stores the tags don't always match the plant their with. It sucks but you do have a beautiful cactus to care for

Similar sized T. terscheckii for comparison.

I am not so sure werdermannianus is a synonym of terscheckii.

There is lots of confusion around T. werdermannianus and it is listed in lots of places as a synonym of T. terscheckii, but it probably falls in the T. tacaquirensis, T. taquimbalensis, T. culpinensis group. It is too early to narrow the OP's plant down if no info came with it.

I'd call it a terscheckii for now until it grows more, it's not a Peruvian torch that's for sure. It's definitely in the group of plants discussed by the others in this thread. That's a good find for a bunnings visit.

Cheers for that mate. Just went to a different Bunnings and they had another 'Peruvian torch' but it looked a lot more like a san pedro. Will go back and purchase that one tomorrow for an ID request

They are certainly around, You just have to keep your eye out.
I check every time i go to bunnings And i would say a large part of my collection has come from legitimate retailers.
