Maybe if you said "perhaps they don't want what they say they want." you'd have a point.

Alas, here we are.

The point remains the same either way.

People don't want what you think they want and people don't always say what they actually want.

Makes no difference to my statement. "Perhaps they don't want what you think they want."

I don't expect you to admit it though.

Aaaaand right back to your non sequitur.

Americans vote on one Senator, one Congressman, one governor, one president. Like I said, there aren't national referendums for every single elected representative. So you drawing parallels between majority opinion and the number of red and blue seats is fallacious.

Won't expect you to admit it, though.

I drew no parallel. That leaves me with nothing to admit.

While I'm aware of your inability to deal with disagreement on your positions, you were actually done before you started. The only poll that matters is the one taken when people cast their votes.

That means: "Perhaps they don't want what you think they want."

No. 'Many' know that one of the three was a recall. The other two were the standard elections that, along with the recall, Walker won as a conservative.

That is what I suspect troubles some of the posters here.

Ecstatic might have a point--a majority of people might think that "marriage equality, raising taxes on the rich, a minimum wage increase, the regulation of carbon emissions," etc are noble causes.

The argument breaks down when you look at the PEW research studies which puts those things in very low PRIORITY among the majority.

The people think the government has bigger fish to fry, like keeping assholes with nukes out of the US, making the fucking economy work, and middle class jobs.

We were promised a 'laser like focus' on jobs and we got a 'laser like focus' on really low priority things like those E mentioned.

The Ecstatic posted the results to the specific questions showing exactly what people want.  For you to argue that Republicans winning an election is more relevant to people's opinions about taxing the rich than the actually surveys about people's opinions about taxing the rich is just...

Or perhaps it was another of those damn butterfly ballots.

I guess you're blissfully unaware that voters just voted in favor of minimum wage increases and same sex marriage, among other liberal issues (such as legalizing pot and fewer abortion restrictions).

Nope. I'm quite aware.

Yet:
Getting what you want by voting for the party unlikely to give it to you (the R's), doesn't have much value as opposed to voting for the party likely to give it to you (the D's)

and.

State governments have been going Republican.

Quote:

Last Tuesday, Republicans made historic gains in the nation’s state legislatures. The GOP now controls 68 out of 98 partisan state legislative chambers -- the highest number in the history of the party. Republicans currently hold the governorship and both houses of the legislature in 23 states (24 if Sean Parnell wins re-election in Alaska), while Democrats have that level of control in only seven.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2014/11/11/the_other_gop_wave_state_legislatures__124626.html

So it certainly appears that the majority of American voters do not want what you think they want.  Perhaps they will someday as the American voters are a fickle bunch. What they do means a lot more than what they say.

In the meantime, keep up the condescension and don't forget to keep telling yourself that the voters really want what the D's offer, when they are clearly voting R.

The majority of voters did what the majority of voters typically do... vote in their own self interest.

Ecstatic posted what postions people agree with, not which are most important to them.  there is a huge difference.  Why is that so fucking hard for everyone to understand.

Let me give you an example:  Im absolutely in favor of marriage equality.  I agree with the position.  Now, what do you think my position is on what the government needs to focus on:  Marriage equality or keeping a bunch of radicals from entering this country and killing people?

DUHHHHHHHHHH

the D's got their butt whipped for focusing on things that weren't of priority importance to citizens.

Sorry, the 'fix race relations/global warming/be good to animals/fairness agenda made the MOONBAT BASE all misty and starry eyed and drove everyone else over to the party who wanted to focus on jobs, business, the economy, prices, etc.

I hope they double down on the touchy feely MOONBAT agenda in 2016 so they can really get their asses kicked.

The marriage equality/gay rights/animal rights/touchy-feely Moonbat Agenda is the Democrats equivalent of the Rights 'Moral values/religious/family values/for the children' agenda.

Both of those hold second place to jobs, the economy, and national security. The republicans finally figured that out.

So did the Democrats apparently, since they re-elected a president who's exceeded the job marks that GOP candidates were promising.

Then we have the supposedly pro-labor Walker, who promised 250,000 jobs to Wisconsin voters, then barely delivered half.

The GOP can say jobs jobs jobs until McConnels jowls drag on the floor, but they have no plan. That's why the people opted for the starry eyed moonbat Obama instead of the billionaire businessman Romney.

I think everyone understands that point, except LDS who still maintains "the majority of American voters do not want what you think they want", although we showed that they want EXACTLY what the Ecstatic said they want (and you even agreed).  True, those may no be everyone's most important issues, which appear to be tax cuts for the rich and elimination of Affordable Care.

I don't see a problem with Dems focusing on issues that all people favor, but you make a point that some people may mistake that for meaning they don't care about other issues that they're also fighting for.
