Hello shroomery!
So, almost everyone has seen or sees faces on shrooms. I wanted to ask has anyone else noticed that you smile to these faces and they smile back? They reflect all emotions i show them in detail and sometimes they smile when i dont to make me smile. Its pretty awesome.

Hey welcome to the Shroomery
I've seen faces but I haven't really experimented or interacted with them. My most vivid experience with them was while I was cloud gazing during a come-up, and I watched the clouds expand, transform, and fractalize into neat things. I saw some faces but they weren't very detailed and they didn't smile at me, it was just one of the morphlings.
I guess next time I will have to experiment with this phenomenon

Thanks!
Its one of those hard to unsee things I noticed the faces a few trips ago but only on my latest one 2 days ago did i notice that there was more to it. They blink and everything, even when i forget them. Looking at the outlines of the panels in the kaleidoscopic grid thing usually brings them out for me if that makes any sense. This stuff is hard to explain but an experienced shroomer like you who knows how to fool around with his visuals should get it.

So what exactly brings out faces for you? Like when do you see them most often?

I see faces ALL the time. I've never interacted with them before but they tend to reflect my emotion at the time. If I'm in the middle of a happy shroom trip, the faces will be smiling and happy.
One time I was in a pretty intense dmt trip and the faces had the expression of someone who was bungee jumping or something, lol.. the look of pure shock.
When I was 18, I took an ambien pill to go to sleep and experienced some unexpected hallucinations. It made me REALLY scared. One of the last things I remember is seeing faces that had extreme terror in their eyes. I woke up in a hospital

Zone off with your eyes open and just follow the vibes. Space off to your own area while looking at any surface youd normally see patterns and stuff in. My friend was watching the first hobbit movie and i was sitting on my bed doing what i described and filling the cavern walls where gollum first appears with faces anything will do. Just anything with some detail in it. The hobbit thing was propably 1h after peak on 2g cubes. At first you can try to purposly use your pattern recognition to force them out. After you see them once its easier to focus

The faces are very common.
It has to do with the steep rise in dopamine. Pattern recognization goes through the rough when you are on drugs.
How ever, the smiling faces seem to be a very universal thing. Lets not call it a smile either, Lets call it a Smirk.

I have never honored the faces for being more than faces..
I don't see faces.. I should not say that. I see skulls.. Well.. I SAW skulls my first 20 trips with LSD, they won't come out anymore.
I don't get many visual's anymore now that I think about it. It all happened in the beginning of using them. There was a strange twist in events though. The visuals stopped, but paranormal experiences started happening 1 per trip.. Those are much harder to deal with than the smirking faces.

I tought of them as just faces but after i realized how much fun i could have with them it was awesome. Like having imaginary friend(s). Do you have trip reports of those paranormal happenings i could read? Sounds good

I found this "I seen faces inside the geometric pattern, like you would see Poseidon's face in the ocean waves."
Its from you. You think we might be talking about same things here? I found the faces "inside" this geometrical kaleidoscope pattern too

I see peripheral faces, but they go when I try and look at them.
Like, it looks as though there's a face staring at you on a curtain or surface somewhere out of the corner of your eye, but you turn to view it and realize it's not a face...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Face_perception#Neuroanatomy_of_facial_processing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia#Explanations ^Interesting relevant wiki reads.
I don't remember ever hallucinating faces, but faces look pretty weird to me much of the time while I'm tripping. Sometimes they'll look like the features are in the wrong places, while simultaneously looking like they're in the right ones. Sometimes they're distorted to the point wherein retrospect they should have been unrecognizable, yet at the time they are not. Since a couple year period where I'd trip probably fifteen or so times a year, I think I've noticed an impairment in my ability to recall faces with the same degree of detail I once could. Now and then I'll feel certain a particular person was in a movie only to find I'm miserably, unreasonably wrong. Often I'll see someone out somewhere, even from just a few feet away, and I'll be convinced I recognize them for a good thirty seconds before doubt creeps in and then I realize I'm entirely mistaken. I almost always catch it before saying "hey" but there were two or three occasions back when I started to notice this where I definitely confused some random person. I think it's a very minor case of prosopagnosia. Could have been coincidence that I only started noticing it after tripping of course.
You should try drawing the faces you see on your next trip. Could be cool.

Thanks for the reply!
I was thinking of drawing them tho the faces form from where ever im looking at and consist of mainly expression and not always clear features. ill try drawing them after seeing them with a higher dose. This hobbit trip was on 2g and i cant wait to experiment further. I should say im mind oriented and i rarely focus on visuals but this really got my attention. I know what you mean by those face warps Its like the "kaleidoscope layer" tears faces in two from the middle and tilts the halves

Cloud gazing is the best on LSD. Saw Slightly Stoopid while coming up on some strong L and i just laid there watching the clouds morph into every concievable shape. Reggae and LSD also go well together ive noticed.

Well after reading the wiki page on face perception and reading your post, I feel like Im on a similar boat. Except for me I don't always perceive just based on their face from far away, I judge their body and how I remember it, and if the face looks similar I guess it's like my validation that I was right on the identity of the person. But I find myself wrong a lot as well, I guess it's a different case though when it isn't solely based on facial recognition, but instead a quick (possibly half-ass) confirmation once the face is seen from a distance.

I'd love to cloud gaze on acid, but I haven't had much experience with it. I remember when looking up into the clouds once on 'cid I saw an over-arching dragon head watching over our city. It was beautiful, huge and colorful. Dragon faces.. haha
