Hi all well my agar is gonna be here today so last night I was getting my work area set up I came across a print of Puerto Escondido that someone had sent to me from the market place a few years ago and I was wondering what you guys may know about it. Is it a strain of cubensis or is it a stone producing species? Wasn't sure where to put this so I figured cultivatation to find someone who might know. All I really found out was that puerto escondido is in Mexico.

Most likely a cubensis. Its not a common stone producer if it is one.Without a photographic microscope there really isnt anyway for us to tell you.

I received a MS syringe from a sponsor recently. I assume it's a cube. Should come up in a search..

It's a cubensis that I found back in 2002 close to Puerto Escondido, MX. Technically it's not from the beach there, but pretty close... And that's where I was staying so the name stuck. I have pictures, there should be a few in my gallery.

It wasn't released to anyone until 2012. Now all the vendors seem to have it.

Actually I'm not sure but now I think about it I think you sent it to me like 2 years ago. Mystery solved.

Yea, it's a cubensis. It blows away anything I've ever seen. This is 1 qt of spawn, multispore.

Not sure of the weight. That was one of a bunch of shoeboxes. All multispore. Ended up with 2 lawnbags full.

They can get big. This guy was 11"across the cap. Almost as wide as the cabinet door behind it.

I remember seeing that in the novelty thread, but I didn't see that cabinet back there. I'll have to look into finding a print of this.

Not sure..it was outdoors. I left it in the sun in hopes of a quick-dry, and was going to shellac it and keep it preserved since it was the biggest Ive ever seen. When I checked it the next day, it was almost completely gone- consumed by larvae/maggots.
I just measured that cabinet door. The inlaid part is 12", so I guess the cap was more like 13". LOL
