Pressure cooker

So... every thing I read says that I should let my jars cool in the PC over night... But I have a small PC that only fits 3 jars at a time. Is it cool to just let the PC cool down to open it and take the jars out to cool else were, so I can sterilize my whole batch?

Also... can I stop sterilizing and add water if need be?

Yeah, you can just let the PC drop pressure naturally and once it's done, carefully move the hot jars to your SAB and let them cool.

It's less than ideal because the temp differential between the hot jars and cool air can cause air to move through the filter potentially carrying contams, but realistically with the tinfoil still on and in the SAB your risk is minimal.

If this is your only option, you'll be fine. Stepping it up to a Presto 23qt or AA would improve your efficiency a lot.

You can open it up and take them out when the pressure drops.....let it drop naturally, never help it......it should take about 30 minutes....

No...add all the water you will need in the beginning.....read the directions for your PC and see the recommended fill level......

Or anywhere else that is not in the PC....like a counter, or shelf, or table....

The filter is there to stop these contams......brf cakes have a dry verm layer as the filter.....the foil gets removed after the pc cycle, so the dry verm layer can stay dry, and effective....
