Hold Fast - Adventures of the Anarchist Yacht Clubb

One winter, four friends resolved to meet in south Florida, find a derelict sailboat, fix it up, and sail off into the Caribbean. Hold Fast is a "video zine" about their trip: both the story of being broke while repairing a completely wrecked boat in Ft. Lauderdale, as well as the story of what they learned about sailing as they inched across the ocean towards Haiti.
Interesting note: In the credits at the end it says that the documentary was "quickly made on a laptop with a fourteen day return policy"
Moxie Marlinspike, the hippie you see in the documentary, is actually an incredibly intelligent person. He is the Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Whisper Systems, a company that specializes in encrypted communication and storage.
He often gives talks at Defcon, one of the world's largest hacker conventions held every year in Las Vegas.
Defeating PPTP VPNs and WPA2 Enterprise with MS-CHAPv2 | DC20:
Didn't see that coming did ya?
Over the past couple of years my wife and I have been completely fed up with working our way up the corporate ladder, making more and more money as time goes by, yet staying just as stressed and broke as if we were making minimum wage. We have determined that, without a doubt, putting all of your daily resources to 'making money' is not a sustainable path to happiness.
So with that said, we've been kicking around the idea of saving up, quitting our jobs and starting some kind of low-key bike rental shop somewhere in the Caribbean. We were fortunate enough to get married in Grenada this past summer and really liked it there. I plan on returning one day.

For anyone that's interested, Moxie has put together an awesome collection of crazy stories of his travels around the country here. It's defiantly worth checking out.
The members of the Anarchist Yacht Clubb seem to live their lives without a care in the world. I just hope that some day I'll have the balls to let go and be free.

Forum psychology...
Post a lot in one post and it's too overwhelming. Post something short and retarded and it blows up.

so true of people who succeed in trying situations vs people who shy away from challenge and adventure.
my pale ass would need a shade umbrella if i was out the sea. always love being near the water though.

Moxie does know his shit about cracking thats for sure I've never met him face to face but have had the good fortune to pick his brain online. Op you and the wife should go and re-settle Montserrat. Now that would be ballsy.
