Yeah there easy to keep if you have the space for them. They will eat all your table scraps, clear your garden of slugs and snails and supply you with eggs all year, for little cost. Anything you need to know, just ask :]

I have raised a few in my time. Damn roosters suck. I hate them. When I was little we had to carry a stick around the yard becaus of that freaken rooster. It jumped up on the back of my sissis head and started pecking at her. So I let it have one. Lets just say bye to the rooster right now. But I also had a few hens. They were so cool. They would fallow you around like little dags. My favorite hen was called Henrieta. She lasted the longest like atleast six years. She would walk up to the driveway and hop into the car if we let her. When I get my own pad I will have a couple chickens.

Yeah, i had a rooster that would attack anyone that entered the coop, even my 45 kilo dog used to get kicked by it. His name was luch, and he lived up to his name well :] The rooster I have now is a funny one, it has a full beard. I put a pick up later

How do you take a chicken out? Do you chop its head off or stick a needel in its ear? I once found a bird with a broken neck. I felt bad about its suffering so I picked it up by its head and gave it a twirle. I then watched its body fly through the air without a head, it was still in my hand.

Yeah you can, only problem is if you have a rooster, due to noise levels and such, but if you just had a few hens, I see no problems. Just make sure you get young hens, as they slow down there laying after about 2 years. so you need to replace them every 2 years if you want eggs.
I kill them by holding both feet in one hand, and the neck just behind the head with the other, pull till taunt, then give and extra pull, so you feel the vertibrates seperate.

I used to kill 800 a day for a chicken coop, the best way to bleed them is to hang em upside down by the feet, put your left thumb under its beak near its throat and the index finger on its head.with a gentle motion sort of bend its neck sideways and a little red gland sac will pop out, gently rub a razor sharp knife along this gland and the chicken won't feel a thing and leave it hanging till it bleeds to death, then put it in boiling water for about 3 minutes and then pluck it. you will end up with a chicken with a white skin or yellow if its corn fed.Hope this helps. PS:lefthanders use your right hand to hold the chickens head

the best is how they kill old egg laying hens. put them on a convarer belt the vibrations sooth them as they are put through a wood shreeder then put in various feeds.
