Have you ever.......?
    #2118562 - 11/17/03 10:30 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

Have you ever actually clicked on a pop up ad to get more details? I never have and never will reguardless of interest in the ad.

Its the fact that someone feels I need to see a commercial while visiting their site that pisses me off. I know sites need money to stay up, but why annoy the guests?

I feel banners are sufficient enough. As a matter of fact I click on banners every so often, but never will I click a pop up ad that slows down my ride through the internet.

Pop up blocking software seems to fuck my computer everytime I use one. However, I haven't used one in a long time. Are there any safe ones now that don't eventually lock up your computer?

Mostly what is your opinion on pop-ups?

I think I may have clicked on 1 or 2 pr0n pop-ups, but then you get caught in that endless cycle and I learned my lesson.

use a browser that automatically blocks pop-ups and other annoying garbage (hint: see my sig  ) IE is wired to allow all kinda of shit like that because MS is a bunch of whores.

Popups are the most worthless form of advertising known to man. I have only clicked a handful in the 8 years I've been online. Popups are the devil! :smirk: Banner ads are almost as bad, but as long as they are used properly and targeted to the right audience, they can be effective.

save now is a whole program dedicated just to giving you pop-ups, how thoughtful, and to make it worse it takes up space on your hard drive. Download Spybot- search and destroy and ad-aware to take care of stuff like that.

Well this one time, on the intranet, I was surfin this site, or maybe it wasn't me surfing but my brother or a friend maybe, and they somehow downloaded this thingy like a trojan horse dialer on to computer. I know because when I did a virus scan there was maybe 5 seperate entries all leading to this trojan horse and I was like WHAT THE HELL MAN.
